NACD 45x35x35 Low Tech (pre-setup discussion)

Beautiful glass and silicone work. The Kessils are really good at dimming quite low, although I’ve only used them with the separately available controller. Great fun playing about with it too.

    Dennerle 50L Scaper's Tank

Looks great! Really interesting to see how much better the whole scape looks after a few weeks. Your patience has really paid off!

    Another Flexi Mini Scape Set

It’s not my scape, but it is nice and simple with good plant growth. All it needs is a weekly water change (75%) and daily ferts/liquid carbon.

How many cardinal/green neon/b. Briggatae in an ADA 60P?

Working in an aquatics store, otos always arrive really skinny. I always make sure they have been fattened up in the shop for about 3 weeks before buying any.

    Dennerle 30 litre nano

Here is my initial hardscape for my nano dennerle tank. I’ve spent ages balancing the rocks, gluing them where necessary and filling in all the gaps to stop the soil getting through to the sand. Have temporarily filled it with water to see if any sloping soil rolls down/filters through gaps ...

    Another Flexi Mini Scape Set

We have one at work whith some lovely plant growth. Very little algae issues, only using daily ferts and liquid carbon. Will post a pic soon. Pogostemon stellatus Rotala wallichii (goes wonderfully pink/red with the strong light. Only Shrimp and a couple of endler guppies.

    Fresh Start 225L

Looking great so far! Leggy growth is normally associated with lower light levels, but your 4 T5's should be plenty. Maybe increase photoperiod a little to 8-9 hours?

EI dosing for 14,500 litre aquarium!

Thanks for this. Will look into their Aquavitro line and drop Seachem a line.

EI dosing for 14,500 litre aquarium!

Wow! the nitrate levels in the local water supply are around 15ppm already, so hopefully will get away with a little less. Will likely be doing 3,000 litre water changes each week, but can do more if needed.

EI dosing for 14,500 litre aquarium!

The lighting The lighting is presently 28 x Hydra HD's! Will be doing the PAR testing once it has been temporarily filled with water to check for leaks/floating tree trunks. You can change the Kelvin output on these lights pretty accurately, although most often used on marine tanks. I have...

EI dosing for 14,500 litre aquarium!

Thanks for all the comments. Think I will need to consider pros and cons of dry salts vs liquids a little more. I will likely have to climb into the tank to keep some of the plants in check I think. No tools available long enough. I've studied the Amano maintenance YouTube videos for Lisbon and...

EI dosing for 14,500 litre aquarium!

Thanks for all the tips and advice. It is a massive project, but sadly not my own tank. I will be maintaining 1-2 days a week once it is finished though. I am just ordering the aquasoil and power sand Special today. My latest thoughts are to go with Seachem products as needed (Flourish, Flourish...

EI dosing for 14,500 litre aquarium!

Thanks Ian, I will look into the powder dosers. However, If I do use solutions, and I keep each individual chemical in its own solution, I assume that would mean the K will not be as limiting? So three different containers plus one for Trace element solution. Each container could then be...

EI dosing for 14,500 litre aquarium!

I am installing a huge 5.5 metre long, 14,500 litre planted aquarium at the moment. My question is regarding EI fertiliser dosing. No off the shelf fertilisers are concentrated enough to provide sufficient macro and micro nutrients. However, I will still need to increase the dosage of EI...

Enviroman's first attempt at minimalist 'scaping

@baron von bubba wow that was quick. Thanks for this. Have you ever tried using easylife products, they seem to have a good range of compatible fertilisers to be able to play around with different nutrient levels? I have only used their Easycarbo before...

Enviroman's first attempt at minimalist 'scaping

A bit nervous of going down the EI route, not sure why! My tapwater has pretty high nitrates (c. 40-50ppm). In my last setup, with a larger plant biomass, it normally took a few days after a water change to reduce the nitrates to around 10-15ppm, so was wondering if anybody knows of a...

Enviroman's first attempt at minimalist 'scaping

Sorry, not sure about the single bulb/fan issue. I have had a problem with the fans, after a few months they started making lots of noise for about 10 mins after the lights come on each day, then settle down again. Have taken a good look inside, but can't see what the problem is, not that it...

Enviroman's first attempt at minimalist 'scaping

Cheers Baron von bubba, will read through the EI posts. The only thing I found with the tank out of the box was that it came with 2 x actinic/white bulbs. I tried using a pink/plant grow with pure white, but didn't like the colour, so at the moment, I have gone with two daylight bulbs. They...

Enviroman's first attempt at minimalist 'scaping

I have had a D-D NanoCube 24 for a couple of years now and it has been great for plants as the lighting levels out of the box are really high (2 x 36W T5) and the internal filter has a great capacity, seeing as it can also be used as a marine tank. My previous planting as seen below, was a bit...

Hi Guys, Managed to make it down on the Sunday and met you all at the best stand at the show by miles. As I promised George, have become a new member of the forum, and already got lots of hints and tips from the site. The scapes on the stand have already inspired me to order some plants from...
