Superfish Home 25 First aquascape (Looking for advice)

MC does pretty well under lower light conditions..... it’s a try and see scenario I guess but I’ve grown it under cheap lower light leds a couple times ..... just grows a little slower but once filled in it seems to thicken quite quick.

What lighting for TMC Signature 600?

The tmc tiles would look pretty cool on the bracket fit...... I think Ian holdich had the setup over one of his tankshttp://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/aquagreen-the-end.21804/ Some pics there..... Second hand ones are quite reasonably price to ;)Actually he has the beams but work on same principle

    TMC V2 Pro Regulator?

I totally agree hence why i purposely mentioned the lack of being able to change the working pressure, substandard i don't agree with, there is many other methods of diffusion that it works perfectly fine with and methods that many still use... for this reason alone, it is still a perfectly...
  12. JenCliBee

    TMC V2 Pro Regulator?

I have to disagree tbh, the only down side in comparison is the non adjustable working pressure but for build quality, me personally would chose the TMC everytime, ive own and used more than one of both and just found the JBL quite a cheap feel in comparison... it's just the non adjusting...
  13. JenCliBee

    TMC V2 Pro Regulator?

You cant go wrong then mate :)
  14. JenCliBee

    TMC V2 Pro Regulator?

Pretty good, well built reg's but i don't think the working pressure is adjustable which causes it to have problems running an UP atomiser.

    Which Nikon?

Or a nice new lens to go with the camera ;)
  30. JenCliBee

Has anyone had any experience with these luminaires?

Yes to both of the above mate, there actually good quality considering the price, obviously the build quality isn't as good as Arcadia units but the price reflects that. but..... overall, For me they look very good for the price and certainly worth having and not just for somebody starting...
  31. JenCliBee

Has anyone had any experience with these luminaires?

Unless your comparing them to something like an Arcadia there actually pretty good, build quality is relatively strong and they do last, definitely worth the money :)

    Cheap powerhead

Just abit of extra advice mate... the magnet holder opposed to the suction ones as far better but both do the job well enough ;)
  36. JenCliBee

    Cheap powerhead

In all honesty I can't say I've found them any noisier than koralia's, If anything they have been quieter from my experience.
  37. JenCliBee

    Cheap powerhead

Used on various occasions mate.... they wont throw out the 5000lph as stated but still worth having for the price

Hi mate.... yep this can be a problem with sand but ive found lots and lots and lots of MTS lol work wonders at turning over the sand to avoid these sort of problems..... i also turn the sand weekly while doing water changes anyways... again to try an avoid it as best i can. Hopefully it wont be...
  40. JenCliBee

    Wooden Paradise

Because it's not stable mate and unstable co2 leads to problems as many will know and have experienced  .... the other side is i would 'need' to add ferts which the whole point really was to use none... adding co2 basically makes everything else harder to balance and more work involved...
  41. JenCliBee

    Wooden Paradise

Completely lowtech mate, the substrate is just plain old toys r us play sand... there are slightly nicer coloured ones around but i had this so thought i may aswell use it. There wont be any plants planted into it so it really doesn't matter what was used in this instance, ferts will only be...

    help selecting external filter

Ive used the 1000 and the 1400 with UV and they are very reliable, quiet filters.... flow rate for me isn't quite as stated but it's also not that bad either. I run a 1400 on my 125l so a 2000 should be adequate for a 200l imo All in all i would certainly recommend them and for price you really...

Not so much it's got out of hand, more some info to let you know what your getting yourself in for before you folk out hundreds of £'s on fish that no one knows the selling price in 5-7 years time. As you say, they are beautiful fish but most zeb keepers will tell you to enjoy them as they are...

Suggestions in a box! Pleco species please

It will depend on how the tanks is planned to be setup?.... are you using pressurised co2?, substrate?... etc. Most plec species, well tbh no plec species would be suitable for a hightech pressurised tank but if conditions are altered slightly, some would be more suited than others.
  56. JenCliBee

Higher heights - 54L to 70L 'upgrade' rescape...

I actually really like it... it has a really nice natural feel.... the only thing i would suggest you try maybe, bank/slope the substrate high to low from back to front at an angle where the wood is situated to give some height.... did that make sense? lol
  57. JenCliBee

First Planted Tank - High Tech

Plecoplanet will give exactly the same advise i assure you ;).... life expectancy is considered to be around 15-25 years and thats considered the age range for a broad volume of plec species.... however, ive had very healthy plecs die at the ripe old age of 5-6 years with no visible...

First Planted Tank - High Tech

Did you get the zeb/s mate... any pics? :). You've inspired me to do a little planted tank for some of mine lol.... will be very lowtech unlike yours...so plant choice will be restricted, no ferts or the addition of co2 and there will be more in the way of caves etc but hopefully i can get it...

First Planted Tank - High Tech

Haha.... welcome to my world.... the thoughts you are getting are exactly the same as the ones that prevent me from having them in anything other than a dedicated tank. I apologise mate for making your decision hard .
  61. JenCliBee

First Planted Tank - High Tech

LOL... no not at all mate.... I'm just making you aware of the potential risks tbh..... ive contemplated adding zebs to a hightech tank many many times but the voices at the back of my head have always put me off.... i think it's more the potential risks...but them potential risks could be fatal...
  62. JenCliBee

First Planted Tank - High Tech

Surface agitation unfortunately is only really relevant in non co2 tanks, the very high temps required to keep zebs means before you even start the oxygen levels are low (higher temps = low oxygen levels).... yes agitating the water can add the required levels of oxygen, however inputting large...
  63. JenCliBee

First Planted Tank - High Tech

Your going to need a hell of alot more hiding places in that tank to make the zebs feel comfortable aswell as raising the temp to at least 82-84..... that sort of temp from what i can make out isn't exactly optimal for plants.... i think you will also struggle to obtain the amount of oxygen...

The ultimate DIY spray bar, your opinion please

I think your find you get more of a crashing wave effect... basically the flow hitting against each other and cancelling the flow out so to speak.... from what i can make out and from experience a full length spray bar across the rear is most effective.

    DIY Shop Fluorescent Tubes

I wasn't disagreeing that lampspec isn't a good place... ive brought from there countless times...however the postage isn't just a few quid if you only spend a couple of pound, postage when ive ordered was around £3 because the total was more than £9 or £11... if Kris is only buying a couple of...

    DIY Shop Fluorescent Tubes

I wouldn't imagine any are better than the next tbh mate, they may claim that one has a few more hours of use over the next but tbh... this is probably just as much of a myth as the colour rendition needed for plants.... for me though the 6500k bulbs are better because they have less of a pink...

    DIY Shop Fluorescent Tubes

Homebase is where i usually purchase my bulbs mate, if the wattage is the same as the ones your removing then it's usually the same bulb... but you obviously need to buy T5 if it's a T5 unit or T8's if it's a T8 but thats pretty self explanatory..... the only reason it wouldn't be suitable would...

    Max lights without CO2

I'm a little confused at this section of the question?..... if you have algae problems, how is more light going to help eradicate?..... isn't more light going to increase the intensity?. 'IF' your having algae problems, isn't the best procedure to eliminate the reasons why your getting it...
