    Lime scale left by evaporation

Topping up with ro would be ideal. Topping up with tap (or whatever you use to fill the tank) shouldn't do any damage if you are doing a 50% change weekly. Best way to clean glass C02 diffuser

Handy tip is that if you have a small plastic syringe (I use on e for measuring fertilizer) then you can force clean water (or dechlorinator) through to get rid of the bleach quicker, and you can also use it to force all the water out when you're finished so that it dries quicker. Mark

    PH Controller conundrum

If you really want to stop the CO2 supply at night, without turning off (and resetting) the controller, you just need to buy another solenoid and timer , and put that somewhere in the system. Problem with my 240

Isn't the nitrate coming from the ammonia you are adding to start the cycle? (ammonia to nitrite to nitrate). If you aren't doing water changes all the ammonia will end up as nitrate (except what's consumed by plants). I don't think you need to worry too much - just leave the tank to get on...

Water Leaking Back From Bubble Counter

I've never found those glass non-return valves to be particularly efficient. When your CO2 comes on again in the morning it should push the water back up.
