    Sparkling gourami tail issue.

Thank you, @Simon Cole, @zozo. Have just kept up with good water, quality flake food, mosquito wrigglers and daphnia. The fish remains happy and active. No redness or discolouration. No fuzziness. Not regrowing. So I conclude it is a congenital deformity. It swims as well as all the others even...

Thank you both of you for the replies. I have the iron chelates from Aquagreen and will sit down and do some calculations and work on following your technique @Oldguy ...I hope your neighbour is ok....

    Syngonanthus Belem tips yellowing

Ok maybe a bad choice of plant. GH is around 3. Lighting was strong enough to grow GSA and BBA though I cannot tell you actual intensity. I have cut back on duration of the lighting to 6 hours. True I don’t have CO2 in the tank. I was going to try the iron chelates as a last resort. Given that...

    Syngonanthus Belem tips yellowing

I have crypts, anubias, rotala, alternanthera, hydrocotyle, Monte Carlo (growing but not thriving) and blyxa growing in this tank. No CO2, moderate lighting, ph 6 to 6.4. Dosing with Aquagreen Dinosaur pee and have put clumps of Dino dung at the base of the Syngonanthus. The Syng are still...

    Sparkling gourami tail issue.

Thank you for your observations and advice. All five including the one with the missing part of tail are looking sparkling blue. The other four have beautiful red tails. All look very happy in the tank which is soft water and clean. Maybe I should be worried now @zozo ? They are all less than...

    Sparkling gourami tail issue.

Anybody seen this problem? Just received five Trichopsis pumila through the post yesterday. All looking perky but noticed that one of the bigger ones had lost most of the top part of the tail, right down to the peduncle. Not sure if it was bitten off or something more sinister? The fish itself...

    Fluval Spec V

Ok, so maybe bigger is better. We have a brand here called Aqua One and they make a 36 litre tank with filter and light. Link is here.... https://www.aquaone.com.au/2015-04-16-04-47-04/2015-04-16-06-00-17/aquariums/focus-2/item/3740-56223bk-56223wh Has anyone had experience with this?

    Fluval Spec V

Oh yeah, I saw some at the LFS and thought “gosh...they DO grow large!”. Same for the Bolivian Rams.

I am hoping to find the version 2 model. But in Australia here, so not sure if we have it.

    Fluval Spec V

Hello everyone. Just mulling over a Fluval Spec V, 19 litre tank for my desk at the office. Problem being that I am in the office Wednesday, Friday, odd Mon or Tuesday. Does anyone think managing this is doable? Thinking perhaps, no CO2, just the Fluval setup without a heater as the office will...

    Broken Bucephalandra through post.

Hello everyone. Just canvassing advice regarding some Bucephalandra I bought which was delivered by post. I believe it is the Kedagang variety. It was growing on a small stone about 3x3 cm. On receipt, there were three parts to what was originally one. A stone with sbout 3cm of rhizome and two...

Ring in when I bought 11 ember tetras - what is it? Aaand... Green Neon Rasboras?

Livefish Australia acknowledged their mistake and very kindly sent me the Microdevario! I now have green neon tetras and green neon Rasboras. Both beautiful in their own ways. Microdevario swim higher in the tank and are more outgoing than the simulans.

    Is this an aquatic moss?

Ok so I better make sure whatever it is doesn’t get into our water systems. I am inclined to think it is Drepanocladus as it is growing upright rather than spreading though as some stage will look at it under a microscope.

    Is this an aquatic moss?

Oh ok, thanks @zozo! So I don’t have to worry about it taking over then. It looks quite nice there.

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

@ceg4048, I don’t think I can find KNO3. Can I substitute KCl or K2SO4 at the same teaspoon dose?

    Is this an aquatic moss?

I planted out a patch of Eleocharis ‘Belem’ and 6 weeks later, saw this growing out of a tuft. Is it a type of aquatic moss? It doesn’t not look anything like Java moss to me. Can anyone identify it? It’s the upright slim one that looks a bit like a conifer leaflet just to the right of the fish...

Ring in when I bought 11 ember tetras - what is it? Aaand... Green Neon Rasboras?

Thanks @tam. Four out of the ten I received were this washed out colour. But only this one stays apart from the rest. Do you think all four are unwell? Should I isolate them or remove them?

Ring in when I bought 11 ember tetras - what is it? Aaand... Green Neon Rasboras?

I got them from livefish.com.au, an online company in Australia. They also sold me these as Microdevario kubotai. I actually think they sent me Green Neon TETRAS.

Ring in when I bought 11 ember tetras - what is it? Aaand... Green Neon Rasboras?

I bought 11 ember tetras (Hyphessobrycon amandae) and after a couple of days, realised that one stayed completely separate from the school in the back corner. Can I seek the collective expertise to find out what it is? It is somewhat see through and has a more upturned mouth than my embers...
