Aah bummer that you can't have amanos anymore they are such funny shrimp and a bit better to study since they are a bit bigger in size then regular neos. Sad to hear that.. I have amanos with borraras. But as agrassive on the food as they are, they leave the fish alone. I think it's just tough luck with one exceptional aggressive amano.. You could watch them closely and pick that one out and see if the others have the same behavior before...

Ooh I realise now seeing the last post it has been more then a year from the last update. It is still running although not as great as I hoped for. Why are cardinal tetra rarely used in aquascaping?

I really like them you can see them when you are a bit further away from the tank. My couch is 5/6m away from my tank and when viewing the tank from there the fish that stand out most are the cardinals. I think they do great in jungle or crowded tanks but not so much in a competition tank, there...

Medium Energy? - Running a low level of CO2...

If you want slower growth you want to use lean dosing. If you want to use low co2 levels you need to dim your lights. I do think it can be done if you use mostly easier plants like most of us do. If you want to safe on CO2 buy the biggest bottle you can put underneath your tank. Myself use a...

    Using a PH controller

I don't use a ph controller nor do I ground my tank. Most equipment I use on my tank doesn't even have a ground wire. Just found your post interesting to think about it..
  65. Luciën

    Using a PH controller

How interesting, makes sense. But isn't our aquarium not a bit grounded by the wires we put in the water heaters and such.. As far as my understanding of electricity goes it also travels around the wires but you have to have an carrier to let it flow like a conductive material.

    Why don't we use sumps?

Okay so this is a mame type overflow? Never seen it, learning new things everyday ;)
  72. Luciën

    Why don't we use sumps?

Sorry but I don't understand your question right? The ones I've modified where stainless steel jet pipes in and outflow with an skimmer. I've cut the skimmer and intake off so that I have 2 outflows one high at the surface and one halfway the waterline.
  73. Luciën

    Why don't we use sumps?

Well I use a sump and I love it. The thing is as said before you will benefit more from it when your tank is larger. Some pros are: you can make it how you like, put in a return pump with larger flow capacity then most closed filters have, having all you equipment hidden like heaters...

Okay not quite finnished jet but here it is already, sorry for the bad phone camera footage I was to tired to fetch a good camera. And if you ask yourself why the fish are already in there after 2 days flooding, I kept my sump running standalone all the time, the fish in tubs with wavemakers...

  77. Luciën

To sump or n̶o̶t̶ to sump? (Swan Lake)

Yeah you are right it's more at an angle then really straight up. That Pro Haru looks good to me, too fix the underside of the wood on the glass and the upper part then could be supported with rocks superglue and cotton. As you said expanding foam is really hard to clean indeed if I ever end up...
  78. Luciën

To sump or n̶o̶t̶ to sump? (Swan Lake)

I've got a question hope that someone has experience with. Got to hold some heavier wood picies straight up. Should I use aquarium save expanding foam or use cotton/super glue with rocks? The scape has to last a few years again. Thanks, that means alot with all those outstanding scapes on...

To sump or n̶o̶t̶ to sump? (Swan Lake)

After four years it's time to strip this tank and start over. Going to use most of the plants i have in here it will be naturestyle themed with mostly epyphites only more emersed growth. I was looking for a diffrent cosmetic sand but could not find anything that fitted my vision. So ive bought...

    Aquascaping regrets?

Most regrets are a learning phase.. Not fixing wood good enough that makes maintenance harder is one I won't make next scapes. Not buying a bigger tank 😂 And buying Krobia Xingu, well not really a regret I love the fish but they are very hungry type and likes to eat tetras as snacks and even...
  81. Luciën

    What’s your flavour?

As a long term scape holder, I must say low maintenance is the way to go. You don't always have all the time to trim loads of stems, unless you are really devoted. Sometimes I think epiphites grows to fast [emoji28] Nature style is easier to maintain then a contest tank or a Dutch style. Black...

Well I've tried moss in the tank a few times but with an grown up SAE in there that loves the taste of it doesn't survive. I've liked the looks of Crepidomanes that could be the replacer of moss? Have e few spicies of fissidens in my bedroom tank but there it really takes over I just pluck some...
  85. Luciën

    Teak and manzi

Yes it's my intention too use mainly epiphites, some moss and crypts in my scape. Probably re use most what I have in my overgrown tank. But I like the look of exposed wood here and there. Don't like wood that's totally overgrown with moss, hardly see 100% moss overgrown wood in nature.

Tips to attach and grow Monte carlo on rocks

I think glue is your best option if you can't tug it in the holes. I've got it growing as an epiphite in a lowlight setup but it need some ferts. 88. Luciën

If i have a sump can i inject co2 into the sump?

You can add co2 in multiple ways that's why I think sumps are far superior to other filters. [emoji6] You can do it with an diffuser in front of the return pump or use an reactor with an extra pump or is I did use a bypass on the return pumps path.

Tips for planting in a tank full of water

I have amanos and I always do 50% or more water changes and they don't die, you need to adjust you temperature if you fill it.
