Thanks for the swift replies.
Tank is an aquascaper 600.
The high tech light choice is partly due to having one available at a sensible cost and other side is that I don't want to buy a lower light and then have to invest if I want a more powerful light later on.
Thank you for the plant...
Good afternoon all
So this will be my 1st attempt to aquascape myself, kept a planted tank for ten months now with varying degrees of success but I think I am ready to move on now.
So this is the style that I am hoping to copy,
So covering the basics 1st substrate I have in mind is JBL...
Thanks for the reply Zeus, been looking at FE as have a supply of cheap out of date ones.
Appreciate the heads up on a ph controller need to avoid spending money on useless gadgets, did a lot of that when I was marine keeping.
I see so the fact that the liquid carbon becomes toxic is where the limit is. Currently using liquid carbon but thinking of going to proper co2 as seems too be greater support and more consistent results.
Thanks for taking the time to explain more fully.
Just wanted to say I have started listening to your podcast and its great. Slowly picking up little nuggets of information that are helping me along the way so thankyou to everyone involved in creating the podcast.
Not to seem like a thread high jack but from what I have read there seems to be a direct correlation between pressurised co2 use and intensity/duration of lights and from what I am reading above this correlation does not exist using liquid carbon?
Completely new to co2 and looking around your full kits come across as a good choice. Could you tell me do your kits come with full instruction for setting up etc?
Also was looking to use a co2 fire extinguisher as a source of co2, is this possible with your kit?
Great looking little scape there.
Will be following with interest as similar dimensions to my tank but it looks far better than mine.
The draw for going high tech is calling us both to add co2
Thanks for all the replies everyone.
So from what I can conclude
1. To get guaranteed results go T5
2. Kessil are ok but probably over priced and the light they produce is to the individuals liking.
3. Twinstar seems a popular led light source.
Wow ok so not really liked then.
Was looking at one of the A80 so would be silent but surprised that the light quality was not up to the job.
Could you possibly point me in the direction of a more suitable light? Like the shimmer of kessil if that's something other lights offer?
Hi all
Coming from a marine background I have always seen kessil as being a rolls Royce brand of lights but seems to be less popular in the planted tank world.
Could anyone link me to any good journals that use kessil lighting?
Also general opinion of them as a light source?
Hi everyone,
Just found this forum and it's fountains of knowledge. Just set up my first planted tank after years of marine keeping.
New tank is planned to be a low tech 50lt so hopefully a nice easy entry into the game.
