What corydoras are you planning on keeping?

Especially with a big panaque, you’ll need to change the stuff almost constantly due to the saw dust.

Soft water and a bit of tlc when new. Baby brine shrimp is great to get them back in shape. After the initial settling in period I’ve found them to be as hardy as any other small characin.

Be careful with your dicrossus, they’re prone to bloat. I’d include some food with a high vegetable content in the diet too.

I wouldn’t go with dwarf cichlids with the morpho tetras. Even though they’re characins they behave like dwarf cichlids. They’re an amazing species but they will feel intimidated by the cichlids in a tank that size and hide.

Corydoras Nijsseni would be a good fit.

If it’s not crypt melt, which it may well be. I’d bet on it being the rosy barbs.

That won’t last for long, your substrates buffering capacity will soon be exhausted with hard water. The only proper way to have a soft water tank will be to use rain or RO water as mentioned by @hypnogogia

I wouldn’t start messing about with your PH, it’ll cause more issues. You need to keep things stable. I don’t think your water is the problem.

They’re in perfect condition, I recon with a longer dry season you might be in luck.

If you did decide to go with otos I would definitely leave these until last. They need a decent covering of algae and biofilm, you won’t get that in a new set up.

They look great. As you probably know they’re known for being one of the harder species to spawn. By all accounts you have to be brave and drag the dry season out longer than you think is necessary.

Aqualife Leyland or G.M Aquatics are both very good for catfish and will ship too.

Strange that it’s so small for that age, they’re not the fastest growing fish but I’d expect it to be a fair bit bigger. If it is internal nematodes ndx will be very effective and you should start to see the fish put on weight pretty quickly.

Give esha ndx a go, it’s very effective against nematodes. Wasting is common in newly imported loaches but surprised to see you have had this fish for a long time. How big is the fish? It seems to be very small for a 7 year old clown loach.

I would’ve said you would have been better off with a 120cm tank for the fish you already had. I’m not sure what a black spotted eel is without seeing the scientific name. I’m guessing some kind of spiny eel? some of these stay quite small, others can end up giants.

You don’t need to go mad and over do it with the lighting if you only have easy plants and the tanks low tech. I only use a twinstar S 900 set at 50 percent hung over my five foot and can grow most plants that I want, granted this is low tech now so only easy stuff like crypts, ferns, swords etc.

Try the labyrinth fish group on band, the admin there imports wild bettas from Asia. She can get hold of most species upon request. I have had some very nice Betta rubra from her.

How have you managed that?! They normally have quite hefty lead times. You won’t be disappointed, they make great tanks.

You’ve managed to get these to grow at a decent pace if they’re only 18 months old. It shouldn’t take too long for them to reach full size at that rate.

I’d personally use sand. Corydoras ideally need sand to exhibit natural behaviour of digging and sand sifting. Gravel doesn’t allow this and I wouldn’t keep corydoras on anything other than sand, it’s not fair on the fish in my opinion. Gravel also traps a massive amount of detritus and waste...

I’ve found mine to be the same. They’re a lot more aggressive when it comes to feeding than my tucanos. Yours appear to be quite small/young. They’ll really start to glow once settled in.

I’d be more worried that the membrane has dried out. You should leave the unit completely shut off when not in use to ensure the membrane stays moist.

Malaysian trumpets are definitely safe with corydoras eggs. I haven’t tried any other species.

Everything appears to be really healthy in the pictures. I noticed a dark looking ram in your full tank shot. Is it one of those dark knight rams or is it a standard German blue ram?

I always put quite a few snails in if I only have a few fry. They clear up all the uneaten food and also provide infusoria through their waste.

I like these with the mini pats for small tanks. I supplement these with the ziss moving bed filters, although I’m not sure if these are actually required.

I always leave it off for the entire day on the day I purchase the fish. Then back on the next day. Adding fish directly to a co2 enriched tank causes a lot of stress.

It looks like your bristlenose is eating the leaves. Try and make sure it has a constant supply of veg to keep it away from the sword plant.

My fish love the stuff too. The freeze dried black worms still create the craziest response but they’re probably too large for your fish.

My rainbowfish love the stuff, completely eradicated it. I actually add some from my shrimp tank now and then to give them as a treat.

This definitely helps, more males than females is always a good idea with corydoras. Adding more males to my duplicareus group helped them spawn more consistently. I can’t get these to spawn no matter what I try.
