Thanks everyone. I think i bought around 14kg of the stone, in 2-3kg chunks but I should have got some heavier, larger pieces as the smaller ones just didnt have enough impact in the tank. Anyone else any thoughts?

I'm prety certain both the purigen and the zeolite go at the top of the filter after all other media, so youd have one in each filter - thats what ive done with mine anyway. I was told to have enough zeolite to fill a tray in my ex700 and that was around 500g of zeolite.

The tank is now a week old, and there haven't been any major problems. Some wood came loose a few days ago and I mucked up the substrate a bit while I repositioned it, and also the filter outlet wasn't blasting the c02 around effectively, but I have fixed that and apart from them minor problems...

Hi everyone, Going to be putting the sand in my tank soon, just unsure whether anyone washes their sand in a planted tank? I'm using naturesoil aswell as sand, so the water clarity shouldn't be too bad, and the sand itself is good quality, clean sand. Should I wash it? Cheers Alex

Hi Vito Take a look here viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6317 I am using thin strips of perspex to seperate my naturesoil from my sand, but the problem with this is it isn't too flexible, so take a look at the stuff saintly reccomended. Also, paint brushes are helpful for keeping substrates in check :wink:

Great fish choice there exactly what I am going for in my tank. I saw them a few months back at my lfs, and did a bit of research and I believe they are not gold tetras but platinum tetras Hemigrammus vorderwinkleri

The tank is looking nice Tom :clap: When I had my cherrys, I noticed the males "fighting", and my females were also pretty plump, but it never came to anything :( . I didn't have them for a long time though so you never know :wink:

I agree with you on the naturesoil, it's fantastic. The top of main stone is a little flat, but other than that it looks good. As for the algae the edge of a credit card has always worked well for me. Good luck with the planting.

Very nice tank and equipment :) Those pictures really show how pink the arcpod's light are, it looked much better with the ADA solar lamp.

That'll look ace in a few months, when all the leaves of the different plants start to intertwine... I can't help but think maybe some moss for the wood would help?

Or you could even place some small rocks around the base of the wood, and plant around them to provide extra interest.

I love the first pic, with the light shimmering on the water surface, and I like how in the second, you can see the rotola's refelction on the surfae. :)
