Running 6 hrs light per day + lime green drop checker and dosing complete liquid plant food every day. Fairly heavy maintenance schedule of 70% WC every 3 days. Also the fact it is only on foreground plants + brown colour makes me think it is diatoms but I really don't know!

Nice manzanita, fits the tank well. Personally I'd have a couple of stones at the base of the tree - just for some added interest and different textures. You will have to rely on a real variety of plants to keep an interesting look otherwise in my opinion. Looking forward to the result though!

Really loving the brown colours in the hardscape. I would steer away from the uniform look of those perimeter stones if it were me though - perhaps arrange them in more of a curve than a 90 degree angle. Looking forward to progress on this!

weeping or willow moss are easy to glue and tie if you want

In my experience chillis do not hide are very curious, however ember tetras will shoal much better.

I use a mix of vinegar and water - really effectively gets rid of all hard water stains and organics. Always works 100% for me never had a problem.

I like the tall hair grass and the shape you've trimmed it in the back left, you don't usually see that in a scape like this

I broke down my 45p for the summer the other day, I am away for most of it so can't keep the tank going on its own. Having no other tanks set up and an empty one lying around with some hardscape I got the itch to put something together... I will have to wait to fully set this up in a few months...

this looks awesome. Love the nymphaea lotus a lot. Carpet will look amazing when grown in too, and I think some height in the background is a good idea. Large bushes of Rotala rotundiflia or Hra will look cool and subtly work with the reds of the lotus

Sainsbury's sell a cheap digital timer, believe the brand is Masterplug. Despite being unintuitive to set up they have never gone wrong for me.

I just reduce photoperiod to half - don't adjust Co2 injection rate just the hours to match light cycle of course. I usually have someone check on the tank once a week to top up with RODI water as well - will be important if you are away for a longer period of time.

Honestly I would go with an all in one liquid solution for fertiliser. Everything is in it and you don't need to bother mixing or looking up dosing - you will have the same results as any other method and considering you have had algae problems there won't be margin for error with all in one...

Hydrocotyle Tripartita will grow in low tech, and can be attached to hardscape. Might give you the plants spilling over rock look you want with Monte Carlo. Just press it down every now and then to keep it growing horizontally. Like so:
