    Mini M - Classic Nature

Really love this scape, I'm a big fan of the classic NA style. I don't think your driftwood is too upright, once the stems grow in they won't stand out so much :)

    Co2 art regulator solenoid issue

I had exactly the same problem recently. I had to keep on repeating the solenoid 'verification procedure' but it wouldn't solve the problem for longer than a few days. CO2 Art were kind enough to send me out a new reg, but even that one I had to carry out the procedure to get it to work..they...

    ADA Cube Garden 90P Build

Nice garden stand, I've got the 60cm version which I found secondhand. Very jealous you've got the superjet filter to complement it, doesn't look nearly as good with a plastic filter underneath like I had.

The glassware is from 'Viv', I'm not sure you can get it in the UK, I picked them up in Asia. Cheers, will start from tomorrow with recommended amount and once the plant mass has increased will look to double. ---------------- So far so good with the tank, although Crypts starting to melt...

    ADA 45p

Using a mix of leftover Amazonia and Tropica aquasoil. Makes sense on the fertilisers, In the past have used the EA Complete liquid plant food, however changing to Tropica Specialised - should I dose everyday or once a week after water change? Not sure what the wood is called, maybe a type...

    ADA 45p

Hi Everyone, starting up a new ADA 45p. Found some nice pieces of driftwood and decided to do something a bit different to what I would usually do. Tried to design a deliberate more structured scape with dominant hardscape and use plant species I haven't used before e.g. Vallisneria in the...

Reusing filter media + plants from snail infested tank

Thanks for the I.D, they do look like Ramshorns snails. As for the Cyanobacteria, can I reuse my filter media and plants without contaminating the new tank with it?

Reusing filter media + plants from snail infested tank

I had to leave my tank in the hands of someone else during lockdown and upon my return have noticed a big snail population. Can anyone I.D these snails? I'm looking to restart this aquarium and would like to reuse the filter media to kick start the cycling process, does anyone know if reusing...

Focusing on Nowhere - AS 900

Love this layout, true NA style which is my favourite. No rocks though? Also maybe just a touch of orange/reddish plants to give contrast against the green - my 60p was planted like this and the green was overwhelming

    ADA 60p

Hello all, its been a long while since I've posted an update on this tank. Unfortunately this tank is still suffering with algae and I am on the verge of giving up... maybe some of you here can give me some motivation to keep this alive! I really like the scape itself, but the algae is ruining...

    Excel Overdose

Thanks guys. I've tried my hardest to find the source of the problem and have had many successful tanks before this with no algae problems, and I still can't work out what the problem is. It's filamentous algae not diatoms I'm sure. Tank is at least 4 months old. I'm using an ADA solar 1 which...

    Excel Overdose

Hi all, I've frankly had enough of the hair/brown algae in my tank and despite using every method in the book and reducing light/increase co2 and manual removal, I'm still getting this stuff months on from set up. Although not as bad as it was its incredibly difficult to get rid of from my MC...

ADA 90H, the quest for nature aquarium

Love the dimensions of the 90H, unique. Also absolutely love the rock composition you have created. If it were me I might choose a different wood though, maybe something more curved. Look forward to seeing this come together!

    ADA 60p

Thank you everyone for your advice on the algae, I really appreciate it. I've raised the Solar 1 significantly and it has helped. What I don't understand is that it was 30cm away from the surface before which is what ADA recommend/others use, and I was carrying out a significant maintenance...

    ADA 60p

Running 6 hrs light per day + lime green drop checker and dosing complete liquid plant food every day. Fairly heavy maintenance schedule of 70% WC every 3 days. Also the fact it is only on foreground plants + brown colour makes me think it is diatoms but I really don't know!
  21. FJK_12

    ADA 60p

1 month in and a week ago seen an explosion in this stuff - can anyone tell me whether this is algae or diatoms? It sticks to the foreground plants and hardscape only, with only a few clumps here and there in the stems. All plants seem fairly healthy so can't work out what it is... A real...

    ADA 60p

Day 20 update: Up until now the tank hasn't caused too many problems. Temporary rock holding down wood has been removed and plants have just about established themselves. Slowly but surely though I am beginning to see algae here and there, mainly filamentous diatoms/algae on hardscape and...

Critique my hardscape Lonely tree in a summer meadow 'scape - opinions please

Nice manzanita, fits the tank well. Personally I'd have a couple of stones at the base of the tree - just for some added interest and different textures. You will have to rely on a real variety of plants to keep an interesting look otherwise in my opinion. Looking forward to the result though!

    ADA 60p

Thanks for the kind words! haha funny you mention Dave from aquarium gardens, I paid a visit to AG not too long ago to pick up the Frodo stones - no help from him in fact but perhaps I was subconsciously inspired by his tanks (which look amazing!) - I ordered 2 pots of MC and felt I had...

    ADA 60p

Week 1: Twinstar m5 is in, and have placed a rock temporarily holding down wood on left. Some of the senganni roots have shifted and will have to glue them back in place, they are very fiddly and superglue doesn't seem to work that well. Doing daily 50% WC's as I am using Amazonia - no ferts...

    New Tank Critique Please

this looks awesome. Love the nymphaea lotus a lot. Carpet will look amazing when grown in too, and I think some height in the background is a good idea. Large bushes of Rotala rotundiflia or Hra will look cool and subtly work with the reds of the lotus

    Hi Tech Tank Holiday Care

I just reduce photoperiod to half - don't adjust Co2 injection rate just the hours to match light cycle of course. I usually have someone check on the tank once a week to top up with RODI water as well - will be important if you are away for a longer period of time.

NACD 45x35x35 Low Tech (pre-setup discussion)

Honestly I would go with an all in one liquid solution for fertiliser. Everything is in it and you don't need to bother mixing or looking up dosing - you will have the same results as any other method and considering you have had algae problems there won't be margin for error with all in one...

    Low Tech Plant Suggestions

Hydrocotyle Tripartita will grow in low tech, and can be attached to hardscape. Might give you the plants spilling over rock look you want with Monte Carlo. Just press it down every now and then to keep it growing horizontally. Like so:
