Trust me I am no planted expert

Well further into the rabbit hole we go. I have delved further into co2 addition by adding a reactor. I have been struggling to get a nice consistant limey yellow drop checker from my diy yeast setup and simple diffuser for a while now, only really achieving it for the first 3-5 days of a fresh...

    Emersed plant dying back

Hi Darrel, if I bought the red spider mites would I then be infested with them? This is in my house so a little worried I would then have to get something else to get them. I have the nursery rhyme ring round my head of the old lady who swallowed a dog to catch the cat, to catch the bird, to...

    Emersed plant dying back

Thanks for your replies. I will try the water method as this is on the rim of my tank and don't want to risk poisoning my fish with chemicals. If all else fails I could gently lift it and submerge it for a week or so that should drop any nasties :)

    Emersed plant dying back

Morning all over the past month a small patch of my emersed growth has died back an seems to be slowly getting bigger. Does anyone recognise what this is? It starts off as small white spots then over about 1-2 weeks the leaf dies off. Should I cut it out or treat it or just leave it alone?

Bit of a picture heavy update, sorry if your on a slow connection :) Had a bit of a thin out from the last update as it was starting to get a bit too thick and tangled. I am starting to think about ditching most of ths stems and going with big leaf plants instead. Top of the tank is...

    CO2 diffuser disks clogging

Hi I have a diy co2 setup with a glass style diffuser and disk. Is it normal for the disk to clog up every other month and need replacing? I keep having to buy new diffusers (not very expensive I know) but every time my diffuser is on its way out green hair algae starts growing.

Trust me I am no planted expert

Hi yes there is a shallow trough bracing around the top of the tank which i planted up with all sorts just to see what will grow. On each rear corner there is a gap for filter pipes so there is a devil's ivy in one and a peace Lily in the other roots dangling straight into the water.

Trust me I am no planted expert

Hi Doubu, I want it to grow its self now and thicken out how the plants want to go. The foreground plants are sending off runners and the rear plants are competing with each other. I see what you are saying about putting a few more plants in to speed up the process and bulk it out.

Thought I would put a little update of how the tank is going. Added 10 dwarf water lettuce last week and as you can see from the pictures they have tripled already. Loving the roots dangling down. The I think HC is spreading nicely but I want something of similar to carpet the front edge of...

    What are these white spots???

Oh i didn't know they did that I have about 5-7 horned nerite maybe one striped one left as they keep wondering off round my living room and 2 toffee coloured with spots on. Its only on my wood they have laid eggs on, I will have to grow some moss over them if they don't come off.

    What are these white spots???

I have some white spots on my wood and wondered what they were? They are on the right in a cluster and a few on the left. A lot of the dots on the left are co2 bubbles though. Are they eggs? Fungi? Something else completely?

You have a 200ltr tank so I would do the recommended 5ml per day. Only change one thing at a time otherwise if you get an improvement or it gets worse you don't know which change did it. I would suggest leave your lights on their current setting and up the dose to the above and see how that goes.
  46. Lgtuk

Trust me I am no planted expert

I have just removed it from the tank and it had loads of roots on the underside of the leaves but none on the stems. It's now up top and we'll see how it gets on. The E Ozelot has a lot of room to spread now.
  47. Lgtuk

    Lush max

I am doing roughly 5ml per day as I consider my co2 dosing to be on the low end of the scale being one bottle diy co2 in a 260ltr tank. How much have you been dosing? Mc Gregor /Mayweather

Mayweather win round 6 KO. Think McGregor will be trying to last to the last round. That will be as good as the win he will never get. Mayweather will get p**sed off and batter him in the 6th. If however mayweather does take up the challenge of a ufc bout after, McGregor will pummel mayweather.

No the rim was already on the tank, I found it by chance second hand. I was getting quotes for a similar tank to be made anyway and saw this. It could do with being maybe an inch deeper for bigger plants but I just have the roots hanging in the water if they don't quite fit.
