Hi guys! I am thinking on doing a reset on my tank. I am using now Ada Amazonia, and i intend to use the same substrate on my next setup. The question is how can I build some hills and slope from amazonia in order not to colapse in time. I am wondering if some of you guys already did that. Thanks!

Alex, you might have too much light, that is the cause of brown algae, if we assume that the filter is cycled. I was having the same problem until i raise the lamp height above 55cm over the top of the tank

that is brown algae and it does show up due to the light intensity.

i think it is too high. under the light plant starts to rot and roting process brings more amonia in to the water and increses the chance of getting algae. the rotting increses along side water temperature.

5w/hour it wont make any diference at your electrical bill. plus it is much more estetique than the surface extractor you are using wright now

Maybe it's all about pictures, but the plants and especially the rocks seem to me full of algae. I dont think your plants are super healthy. Please do not mind, it;s just my point of view

I do have eheim 2078 which i believe is similar to your 2178, except the heater. i filled it up with 8 litres of matrix, but i believe that matrix have a bigger grane than substrate pro, so i believe you would need more than 8 litres.
