    What fish to get

AM Aquatics in Team Valley has gone, Aqualand in Whickham never seems to be open any more- not sure if closed? Maidenhead Aquatics at Dobbies seems to be your best bet. A bit further afield There’s 3 good shops through Durham way- Tropical Supplies North East, Chilton Aquatics & Fish Alive in...

Where to buy in the North East.

@Missive00 seeing as I'm from Gateshead, we probably share different views about which is the better side of the river ;) I did the rounds a few weeks back looking for bogwood. Aqualand has all been done out, I see they featured in Seachem's roadtrip alongside AM Aquatics Team Valley, and the...

    Cliff & Plateau

@McCarthy I have absolutely nothing to add here, but just wanted to say I am following your journal (from the shadows) to see what amazing set up you can create when finances don't impede progress. (Meanwhile I'm battling T5 HiLite's on a low tech set up because I refuse to pay for CO2)...

    Just starting out

@ian_m I have the Aquanano 40 you refer to as a bedside light/tank (any excuse) I also filled it with RCS which was amazing to start with... The tank's selling point is how the chambers at the back hide the powerhead, heater and huge room for filter media... Unfortunately nearly all of my RCS...

Plant ideas for my low tech

Following this to see how you hide your filter... I have nothing to add, you are clearly doing something right looking at your plants in this low-tech! Reayman

    Be Warned!

I found at P@H they had a display model Aquanano 40 by Aquaone, above a whole load of Aqua aspire tanks (also by Aquaone). The tanks looked identical, but the Aquanano 40 has chambers across the back to house and hide away a huge amount of filtration and the heater/pump- P@H even had the...

    What's your Favourite

Nymphoides Taiwan has been a low-tech showstopper, but for me it has to be the (seemingly) indestructible crypt wendtii. I am always beyond amazed after pulling down a tank to see the extent of the root structure it sets up. I think I bought a single crypt when I was 17 from P@H and it has (and...

Where to buy in the North East.

Not many of these comments seem to be (what I consider) to be ACTUALLY in the North East! @dan4x4 is right, Ash and the guys at AM Aquatics in Team Valley Gateshead are really helpful. they have recently done out the fish section and they frequently have event nights (or at least for...

    Hydrocotyle tripartite being eaten

I know this is an old thread, but I have Nymph Taiwan in two tanks, and Mick was spot on- if ever disturbed or moved, the tank with Amano's quickly set to work eating the 'moved leaves', whilst the plant starts again. Meanwhile in my other tank (RCS) they remain untouched and grow out of control...

Old Thread Juwel Lido 120 (now under construction )

Ok guys back again. Didn't get as much time on the tank as I would have liked over the bank holiday- the Mrs dropped and stabbed herself in the hand with a v sharp kitchen knife, so I had the joys of driving her around various Hospitals in the North East most of the weekend. Anyhow, I finally...

Old Thread Juwel Lido 120 (now under construction )

Before / After pics to come following whatever I do this weekend: I have been lurking in the forum for a while without posting anything myself. Truth be told I'm struggling to make the most of the height on this tank, any stems that go in seem to perish from the bottom, and replanting in this...

    "Potted" plants

@abutterell it will pick back up I bet. I have it in two tanks, reached the top in both tanks, one being a 30G Juwel Lido. The largest rosettes were about 10-15cm. When it reached the top though, it then propagated new plantlings and the original rosettes died off. Keep me updated... and sorry...

    "Potted" plants

@abutterell how is that Nymphoides Taiwan getting on? I picked one up from a local P@H a little while back- an absolute showstopper! Unfortunately a BN plec I'm babysitting likes the taste of it, but I bet yours is your centrepiece right now ;)

Just an update on this one guys... No pics yet but I added another piece wood and dragonstone I had left over from my other nano. I stupidly and naively bought from P@H what looked like 6 healthy harlequins to my school that I had had for a good 8month or so and were real healthy... I watched...

    Anubias Flowering.. Underwater?

I cannot see the pics since I'm at work, not sure how big your Anubias is but you could just cut the rhizome in two and then you'd have two Anubias to grow =D I bought one from P@H say maybe 2011, I know have about 8 decent sized and healthy Anubias from that!

Setting up a low tech tank for a beginner?

@Seditro I've heard nothing but good things about CO2Art so worth a look. I was ready that link you gave before about their dual regulator deal for £50 down from £177, bargain of the century. For me this will be all post-wedding shopping, no point setting things up and going away on honeymoon...

Setting up a low tech tank for a beginner?

@Seditro took me a while to realise you meant Fire Extinguisher and not Iron(FE)! I'll have a read of that other blog cheers... find myself sat at work staring at a 2kg CO2 extinguisher right now and looking if there's camera's about:angelic: jk but it seems like a good route when I save up...

Setting up a low tech tank for a beginner?

Hey @Seditro and welcome, following this intently as I have a new Juwel Lido 120 and have the same questions/ considering high tech set up. I wondered what size CO2 canister because I'd want it to go seamlessly in the cabinet below. Any pics of your setup?

Hi and welcome- great set up. Is the JBL set up easy to use? I'm considering CO2 myself.

    Hello everyone!

@Mark hastings Hello and welcome, I'm new here too and happy other people are loving the Juwel range like I am. Let us know what you make of the internal filter or whether you're switching to an external one- I think I will be further down the line. Reayman

    New to UKAPS, first nano-scape

Sorry guys- this is the aquanano 40 by aquaone, I'd strongly suggest considering it for nano's if you've not seen. The heater, power head and filter are all being that screen and hidden away. There is masses of space for filter media which I have filled with a sponge and some well matured...

Cheers for the welcome guys- sorry I have a school of harlequins in there, 6 currently though will be expanded over the weeks! should have specified. Hi everyone, I'm new to this but I've been trying to follow some of the aquascaping threads for ideas on a nano-scape. I'm using Seachem Fluorite Black Sand, Ohko Stone and a mix of Crypts & Anubias as Flora. I did have some Starogyne repens and umbrosum I managed to salvage from snail...
