Twinstar 600s what % for low tech

40% sounds like a good start. I will slowly reduce what co2 i have until it runs out, reducing the light at the same time. I'm happy with slow growth as long as they stay healthy.

Twinstar 600s what % for low tech

I'm going to stop injecting co2 soon and wanted peoples opinion on what % to have the lights at for low tech. I used to have the lights at 100% then rescaped keeping only ferns, anubias, cripts and buces so i reduced the light to 55% and continued to inject c02. I am about to run out of co2...

    Removing the legs twinstar 600s

I have the 600SA which i replaced the legs with acrylic triangles. The SA has 4mm rods for legs that just slide in and out of holes in the end. I just got some 4 mm studding and tapped the acrylic so the studding went into the holes in the end of the light with a mouse hole over the wire. I have...

Why can't I grow healthy plants? What am I missing? - Now improving!

I thought that's what it was going to be like, and it was for a bit. As time went on I changed things and tried different plants, maintaining the look and growth got more difficult. I probably could have maintained a healthy tank with only minor changes and little effort if i new what was...

    Twinstar s series, what intensity?

I have the SA and removed the leg and replaced with a triangle of acrylic with 4mm pins into the holes where the legs go. I have hung it from the ceiling. Overall I am really happy with the light, the tank seams evenly lit with not too much over spill. Also makes the tank much easier to clean...

    Twinstar s series, what intensity?

What intensity do people with Twinstar s series have them at? full power or less? also over what size tank? I know the intensity of light you can have is affected by many factors, I am just curious to know what other people do. I have been running a Twinstar 600s on a 80cm x 40cm x 45cm high...

Why can't I grow healthy plants? What am I missing? - Now improving!

It has been three months now and I am having some success so I thought I would post an update with the changes I have made. After installing the JBL 1502 filter I bought a length of pipe and played around with different hole sizes and position to get the best flow. I found that I the flow was...

    Perspex top

I Had 5mm Acrylic on my tank in two squares 400mm x 400mm. When it started to sag after a few weeks i turned them over until they sagged the other way. I glued tabs on each side so it located on the tank wall. I currently have 3mm trays that i have made by gluing support around the edge that...

    Algae Strategy!

I have been using a cheap PH pen from ebay. pen and buffers were under a tenner. It takes about 5 min to give an a accurate reading so i just clip it to the side of the tank when doing a profile. Even if the PH reading isn't exact I think the drop/change it reads is fairly accurate, along with a...

Twinstar Style Light for 800 mm Tank

Yeah it doesn't look very balanced on just one wire. Better going with the SA and doing something similar to Tim. That's true, Might be better to pay the extra at aquarium gardens. Twinstar Style Light for 800 mm Tank

I also have a 80cm tank and looking at upgrading my light. Thinking of getting the Twinstar 600 SP pendant light. Would either hang it form the ceiling or make some wall brackets. I think the adjustable metal legs on the 600 SA don't look that great. Aquasabi are the cheapest I have found.

Can h2o2 be used as a whole tank treatment before WC

How long does it take for the algae to die off/disappear? I spot treated black algae with 3% h2o2 a few days ago and its still there. It bubbled for about 15 min when I applied.

I was hoping it might help. So I went for a JBL 1502. I made a temporary spray bar extender to run the full length. The flow is good but with the filter booster/reactor it reduces quite a lot.
