Thank you Fred, I will try to take as many pics as possible. Fargesia rufa looks nice. I'm more inclined to one of the Fargesia nitida varieties (probably 'Winter Joy'), as it still looks nice and plump and will grow at least a few more inches high to give me a bit more privacy in the garden.

In a small city pretty much in the middle of the country. About 1 hour away from Lisbon. The waterfall will work more for oxigenation than for filtration, and for the look and sound, obviously. And with expensive fish, I like to have a "spare filter" at hand if anything goes wrong. I found a...

This is the side of the house: In terms of length, the ground floor only goes pretty much to the first tree. At that point there's a retaining wall for the ground, which goes up to the first floor. So kinda like if the house was built in a slope.

I've seen his channel before. Probably mentioned by you in another post! ;) His ponds/pools have basically the same principle as what I want to do with the pond, but I think Aquascape methodology is just a couple steps further (probably because they have way more money and people to do research).

    Will this work

So, if I'm understanding it correctly, that means you don't actually need the "syphon stop hole", as you will never have an actual syphon (vacuum suction), as air will enter from the top section never allowing a syphon to start and it will work as you intend it to.
  19. kadoxu

    Will this work

This may not work as you are expecting it to. If you don't add a vent on the top of this, when water gets to the top waste pipe, it may start a syphon and drain the tank to the hole in the inlet pipe (assuming you have the top waste pipe connected to something else like a hose). You need an...

From my experience, the population controls itself. So, unless you are purposely feeding the shrimp to grow them out, you'll not experience the shrimp plague. CPDs are likely to eat small shrimp, but with enough plants and hiding places, they're unlikely to get them all. I've had cherries in...

I've used the same for a couple of my tanks. I believe the UV coating needs to be on top to work properly, so I used it upside down just in case. With a lid you're always going to loose at least a small percentage of light, but I wouldn't worry about it.

More plants, less water, and a heat mat under the tank will do wonders. With the substrate so wet, you'll probably end up having mould and/or algae in the substrate before you even flooded. I would also leave 1 corner of the top a bit open to allow the tank to aerate a bit more.
