That looks like a great selection to start with! The only floating plant that I know of is the frogbit which needs moderate lighting, so I've read. Just keep in mind if you have low lighting, you don't want to block out to much with floating plants.

My eheim is turned down because it is to powerful for the tank if it is on full. I have adjusted the spray bar so the surface is looking better.I am hoping that an over sized filter with Lily pipes should do the job nicely. The tank is only 50 litres, 45*36*31.

Martin, I used a mature filter and water, but I sure it's not diatoms. Darrel, I'm sure it is. I'm going to try a product I saw on Amazon called " Ultralife blue green algae remover". It has great reviews, so it's worth a try. Cheers for you help guys.

I thought I would check the level before I did the water change, and it is 0. So I check the nitrite level and I have a little spike there. I'm going to leave it another 24 hours to see what happens. I must have disturbed some ammonia in the substrate.
