Aqua Oak 200 Litre - Low Tech

So the new aquarium finally arrived. Very pleased with it so far. Fits into the AquaOak cabinet and hood recess a treat. Used Tropica substrate, soil and powder. Have positioned rock but going to wait 24 hours before filling with water. Just to be sure I like the layout.

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

Thanks for the comments, really appreciated :) May I ask you both what you feel differentiates A4L tank? The material specifications are the same so I guess you are alluding to the standard of manufacture? Or service maybe? My particular application (AquaOak 200L) has a wooden bevel around the...

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

Thanks, I'll give them a try. Have also sent an email to Aquariums4Life, seems only fair as they are a sponsor of UKAPS.

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

Update.... back to the drawing board. Turning the tank made it impossible to fit the spray bar and outlet as, due to the design of the hood, they need to be on the back wall and the bracing on my tank is very wide on that side. The polishing exercise was not easy and I decided not to pursue my...

Aqua Oak 200 Litre - Low Tech

Hi all Looking forward to building my first aqua scape. Currently at the gathering bits to gather stage. So far I have... Aqua Oak 200 litre aquarium, bought at a great price second hand, lot's of cleaning required though! Currently sat full of water, no leaks which is good :) Biomaster 600...

Where to buy in the South West.

Impressed with Acres Aquatics at Corsley (near Longleat, Wiltshire). Chap behind the counter seems very knowledgeable re planted aquariums. Bought an Oase 600 Thermo and will be back to buy Tropica substrate and soil when I'm ready. Stock Oase and Eheim. Nice selection of fish too.

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

Much as I'd like to do this I'm going to refrain. Tempting though! Maybe for the next build whenever that may be.

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

🤣🤣 Maybe, but I quite like a bit of Pink Floyd 👍

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

Most are not that deep. One quite bad one is now at the back and unseen thanks to Mort's tip 👍

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

Well, just flipped the tank and the front now looks great. Still leaves the ends to polish but worth a go I'd say. Thanks :)

Scratched glass, can it be polished out?

Hi all Delighted with my second hand purchase of an Aqua Oak 200L aquarium including the oak cabinet and hood. I got it for good price. However, the scratches inside the aquarium, that I originally thought were minor, are now hitting me like a smack in the face. The question I have is can...

Hi from a new member in Wiltshire

OK... So following advice from Andy D, I took my time !!!! It's 6 years since my original post and I have finally taken delivery of a second hand Aqua Oak 200 aquarium. Don't let it be said I ever rush into anything ;) Next step is to source a filter and lights. Hopefully I will move a little...

Lubricating Eheim O rings and gaskets with ?

Actually.... it's probably irrelevant what material the o-rings are. Probably shouldn't be using petroleum based products on aquarium gear anyway.

Lubricating Eheim O rings and gaskets with ?

Do you know what material the o-rings are? Both Viton (FKM FPM) Rubber and Nitrile Buna Rubber (NBR) have good resistance to petroleum based products. EPDM on the other hand will be badly affected. Didn't realise you could get water based vaseline?

    Recording Parameters

Much as I love a gadget that seneye server upfront cost the the ongoing cost of slides makes it a no go for me. Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't realised either point! Took a look at the aquarium note, looks good but sadly I'm not on android.

Excellent. Thank you for the answers, photo and illustration. Much clearer now.

    Twin filter CO2

Ah, I see. I assumed I needed some sort of control valve (needle valve) to increase or decrease the flow of CO2. Hadn't realised the regulator did that. Guess the clue is in the word 'regulator' Sorry for the dumb question :-)

    Recording Parameters

Hi all :-) Not sure if this is in the correct section but here goes. Can anyone recommend a Mac compatible app / spreadsheet for recording parameters. I like the look of the Aquarimate service but wondered what others use. I guess a simple spreadsheet and maintaining a thread in the journal...

    Twin filter CO2

Hi all :-) A quick question. I intend to have two external filters each flowing into it's own spray bar. In order to get an even distribution of CO2 I will put an inline diffuser in each flow line. Here is my question. Do I need to have a bubble counter and control valve for each diffuser...

    Just starting out in Wiltshire.

Hi Brian. I'm also just starting out (again!) and coincidently also live in Wiltshire. Was looking at the AquaOak 110 over at Maidenhead Aquatics, Keynsham yesterday and have decided thats the tank I'm going for. Lots to learn, this seems a great forum to get things underway.

Hi from a new member in Wiltshire

Hi May seem odd, but i don't actually have a tank at the moment. I did have a Hagen Tropiquarium 88 many moons ago. Was reasonably successful at keeping tropical fish but never managed to keep plants alive. This was a huge disappointment and eventually i sold the tank. Fast forward to today...
