Thanks all for your replies. I think I'll probably pass on the feet now, too much extra to think about and something else to go wrong. I'll make sure the bottom gets an extra coat of whatever I use to waterproof the cabinet and be extra careful during water changes! Chris

Used a second hand 200 watt one for over a year on a nano aquarium to keep the equipment in-tank to a minimum. No issues. You keeping sensitive fish? If not, and your house is adaquately heated, you might not even need one.

Evening all, Has anyone ever tried splitting the outlet hose from a canister filter in two and running two lily pipes into the tank? I should imagine it could be beneficial in terms of increased flow providing your filter is powerful enough. Cheers.

I run a Eheim Pro Ecco 200 on my 30 cube with a glass spray bar from APFUK. Just the right amount of flow, and well distributed at that. With an inline CO2 diffuser. Pretty decent results.

Ok, thanks. I was going to get a stainless steel mesh guard to put on the intake to do this. I suppose its form vs. function. My question relates more specifically to what to put in the baskets inside the canister, e.g. ceramic balls, activated carbon and the other wealth of medias out there.
