    Stocking for 60L

Afternoon all, I’m currently thinking about what I want to stock in my 60 litre 60P. It’s a high tech planted set up. I was thinking 25 green neon tetras and 10 amano shrimps. Thoughts?

    Drop Checker Permanently Green

Evening all, Anyone got any ideas why my drop checker stays green 24/7? CO2 (3bps and in-line diffused) comes on 4 hours before lights on and turns off 30 minutes before lights off. Really good surface agitation, with an eheim surface skimmer and an air pump running for 6 hours overnight. Also...

    Media Setup Oase Biomaster 600

Evening all, I'm soon to setup up my 60P with a Oase Biomaster 600 Thermo and was wondering what people think in terms of how to setup up the trays. It comes with 45PPI foam in the prefilter, followed by two trays of K1 media, two course foam and one medium foam. The first change I've made is...

    Recommend bubble counter

I got mine from Aquarium Gardens. Just a standard silver one that screws into the regulator. Never caused me issues.

    Calling DIY cabinet builders!

Evening all, I'm towards the end of my build and am using three coats of Homebase's Duracoat paint. To those who have built an MDF cabinet; Did you add any extra waterproofing layer? Thanks in advance.

    DIY Cabinet Advice

Thanks all for your replies. I think I'll probably pass on the feet now, too much extra to think about and something else to go wrong. I'll make sure the bottom gets an extra coat of whatever I use to waterproof the cabinet and be extra careful during water changes! Chris

    DIY Cabinet Advice

Evening all, A couple of questions for my DIY cabinet, which I'm mid way through: 1) I don't want the base to be in direct contact with the floor. Can anyone recommend any levelling furniture feet and fittings for my 60P cabinet? Will one in each corner be sufficient? 2) How to people...

Reliable Sawing at B&Q / Wickes

After seeing people positive words I decided to give it ago and.... Shocking! Went to B&Q in St Neots. Took about 30 minutes to get someone to the saw. Gave the lad decent instructions. Cuts were anything between 1-4 mm out and not square either, which surprised me give the equipment used...

Hydor ETH External Thermal Heater . YAY OR NAY

Used a second hand 200 watt one for over a year on a nano aquarium to keep the equipment in-tank to a minimum. No issues. You keeping sensitive fish? If not, and your house is adaquately heated, you might not even need one.

Where do you buy glasswear online?

I bought mine recently from Aquasabi. Bought the Aqua Rebel IF4 and OF4 and although they are not on the tank yet, I'm impressed with what I've received. My reason for buying those particular pipes were that they were the only ones I could find with two suction cups to stop them from moving if...

DIY Project DIY ADA Style Aquarium Stand

Hi guys, Bit of advise when it comes to assembly. Did you let the glue dry first before screwing it all together or did you do it whilst wet?

Reliable Sawing at B&Q / Wickes

Hi all, I plan on building my own ADA style cabinet soon and am keen to know of people's experiences regarding how accurate/reliable the staff in places like B&Q/Wickes/local builders merchants have been? Most of the cabinet plans on here are within mm tolerances and was wondering if this is...

    MarinePure Block

Evening all, Has anyone got any experience with the MarinePure blocks or plates in canister filters? I know they are traditionally used in marine sumps, but it strikes me that they could possibly be the best biological media for a canister filter. You could take the block, cut it to the perfect...

    Splitting the outlet

Evening all, Has anyone ever tried splitting the outlet hose from a canister filter in two and running two lily pipes into the tank? I should imagine it could be beneficial in terms of increased flow providing your filter is powerful enough. Cheers.

    Best Eheim for a 60P?

Many thanks for the replies. Think I'll end up with a 350 of some description. Its got variable flow controls anyway, so if its too much I can always turn it down :)

    Best Eheim for a 60P?

Hey everyone, I'm in the process of gathering all the equipment to set up my 60P and was wondering what people are running on theirs and what people think would be the ideal filter in terms of turnover and filter media capacity. Eheim is my favourite manufacturer. I was thinking about either...

    Nano tank filteration?

I run a Eheim Pro Ecco 200 on my 30 cube with a glass spray bar from APFUK. Just the right amount of flow, and well distributed at that. With an inline CO2 diffuser. Pretty decent results.

First Journal - The Aquarium Garden

Hi all, My first journal, and my second attempt and 'scaping. The tank is a 27L, 30cm Cube. The goal was to try make it blend in with the living room, hence the oak side board (although in hindsight I think the hanging bars detract from this slightly). Inspiration taken from GF's Hillside, and...

    30cm Nano Cube Lighting

Haven't bought it yet, but at the moment I'm going to get a iquatics light hanging kit - http://www.iquaticsonline.co.uk/aquarium-light-mounting-kit-hanging-bracket/aquarium-light-mounting-hanging-suspension-system-600mm.html . It's a quite a bit of kit for one tile, but the best thing I could...

Filter Media for Hi Tech Shrimp-only Nano

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I'm as much into aquascaping as I am shrimp keeping, so having a high tech tank is very important. That said, I have toyed with the idea of a low tech, cardinal shrimp biotope, but I decided against it until I'm far more experienced at shrimp keeping. To...

Filter Media for Hi Tech Shrimp-only Nano

Ok, thanks. I was going to get a stainless steel mesh guard to put on the intake to do this. I suppose its form vs. function. My question relates more specifically to what to put in the baskets inside the canister, e.g. ceramic balls, activated carbon and the other wealth of medias out there.

Filter Media for Hi Tech Shrimp-only Nano

I'm currently in the planning phase of a shrimp-only high tech nano. I'm either going to be using a Fluval G3 or an Eheim Ecco Pro 200. Is there any filter media that is strongly advised? And similarly, is there any to avoid? I'm still undecided about what to stick in it, but currently its...

    30cm Nano Cube Lighting

I took your advice and went for a TMC 400. Got it for £37 all in, which I was quite happy with! Now I just need to come up with some sort of way of mounting the thing, without spoiling the minimalism. I'm not a fan of the mountray. Any ideas? Also, what do you think a second hand TMC...

    30cm Nano Cube Lighting

Hello to all, First post on the forum, although I've been a fan and follower for the past few months! I'm in the early stages of planning and setting up a 30cm, shrimp only cube and was wondering what would be the best lighting option. The tank with be high tech, and I'll be trying to carpet...
