    CaSO4 vs CaCl2

Wow this is some level-10 fert talk you dont see every day. It's like I stumbled into a gaggle of professors...good stuff! Re the addition of potassium sorbate and ascorbic acid. Since you're doing micros and macros separately, ascorbic acid alone will typically suffice for the micros as long...

Mosses that do or don't attach to Hardscapes!

Hmmm, my experience with Willow moss (Fontinalis antipyretica) is different from the above. It's one of the most aggressively attaching moss Ive ever seen. It'll stick to dirty glass.

    EI extended water change period.

If you are trying to create more stable water parameters for the shrimp, waiting 2 weeks between 50% water changes will have the opposite effect. The most any nutrient can build up doing 50% water changes is 2x the total amount dosed in between them. (this assumes zero plant uptake) For...

    Tonina Fluviatilis Poor Health

Be better to go something like 32 for two hours, then 72 for four, then 32 for another one or two. Having a drop in the middle goes against the light pattern in nature and will only confuse the plant imo. This is different from a low tech tank where an "off" period in the middle can offer...

    What exactly causes BBA?

Neglect is a main cause. Shying away from the grunt work like pruning, cleaning and water changes. Big mistake to go round in circles arguing nutrients and CO2 when sub par conditions and/or poor plant health can explain 90% of algae troubles.

how many bps for a 100g tank

Bubble rates are not universal. How many it takes to reach your desired target depends on many things, like filtration and flow rates, the diffusion method, surface agitation, just to name a few. Also, not all bubbles are equal, working pressure can affect bubble size for example.. Having said...

Am I going mad? Needle Valves

Well I do know they've recently had a bad batch of regulators go out that wouldnt hold a working pressure. You may have one of those. Send them an email. They have great customer service after the sale.

Am I going mad? Needle Valves

All the way clockwise closes flow, counter clockwise opens it. On the top needle valve, see the little nut just in front of the control knob? That could be stopping you from being able to close it all the way, try "unscrewing" it out towards the knob.
