Aqua nano 40 light upgrade help

You should keep an eye on the Classified section of the forum, plenty of lights avaiable within your price range! https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/2-x-aquaray-mini-led-400-controller-lighting-suspension-kit.56680/ This set would be great to encourage reds in your rotundifolia, well priced...

Aqua nano 40 light upgrade help

The Tmc mini 400 is a cracking light, but won't suffice your needs in the aqua nano 40 in my opinion. Better suited to something in the 20-30 litre range. If you can stretch the budget a little further, a Tmc 1500 tile will give you ample Par to grow most species, offering more control. Should...

The rocky uphill road to my first IAPLC entry....will I make it in time?

Looking good Jonny, glad to have been involved! Does your fert regime include liquid carbon? Seems like algae is getting a slight head start against the low biomass of plants you've got.. How much light have you got over it? Do you know how efficiently you're dissolving C02? After lights out...

  14. J

    Iwagumi 36.45

Exciting stuff, epic hardscape! Have you considered flow options? I agree with Nuno M, in that a smaller stone leaning back to the left would compliment such an imposing main stone. Either way though, it'll look great :D
  15. J

    Golden cobra snakehead group tank

Fantastic first attempt, very bold hardscape too! The depth of scale is awesome :D If you're already using the Dry Start method, why don't you add some InVitro HC to give it a chance to root before flooding? Best of luck, Joe

Awesome low tech, you've nailed the island composition too :D
  17. J

What kind of deficiency or toxicity is this ?

Which may be due to you adding Purigen recently, reducing nitrate concentrations in the water column? Cheers, Joe

    Jim's TMC Signature

Scape looks great, and plants healthy too! Looking forward to seeing this in a couple of months! Best of luck with re-jigging hardware. I use a 200w Hydor external heater and its fantastic, flow reduction isn't terrible either. Joe

    Urgent...

Hey Tom, where do you work? I remember seeing a thread with some of your tanks in Edinburgh, have you since moved? It would be cool to pop in and meet you! I worked in Fishkeeper Leith for a couple of years ;)

Maidenhead Aquatics stock the JBL Proscape Test kit, which will test Fe and Mg, as well as those mentioned above. Cheers, Joe

    South American 180 litres

Nice growth in five weeks, this will look fantastic with a South American community. 5 or 6 big Bleeding Heart Tetra's would go well with the Rummynoses, the big males look amazing chasing each other through tall plants :D
  25. J

    Lagoa Verde - 45P

Love it, very minimalist and effective. I'm about the same stage of DSM as you, using fissidens and HC in a tiny 16l nano. Cant wait to see this mature!

Starting point 40 cm Cube ""A touch of red""

Fantastic Roy, it was well worth the wait! Both tanks look superb next to each other, can't wait to see them in 3 months time :D The use of slate is very interesting-with minimal planting this will have a unique look when grown in. Cheers, Joe
  30. J

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

For some reason it grew quite leggy in my tank, which I would describe as quite high light. Not sure what caused this but it didn't suit the scape as it dwarfed the Monte carlo as it sent runners out everywhere. Easy to grow, more difficult to maintain. What's your setup?
  36. J

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

Aye the 17l! It's on our table at home with some dragonstone and stubstrate. Rox and I change the scape every day to see which one we like the best! It's also going to be wall-mounted....! What moss are you using in the scape? You messaged about a DSM right? Hmm...

Looking great Tim, revisiting this scape for some inspiration when re-scaping my 40cm cube. I too will be using dragon stone, just considering different layouts. Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

Hey Alex! Thanks for the feedback, do you mean a triangle style backed into one corner, with a sloping gradient towards the front of the tank? Thanks again :)
  57. J

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

Hey Tim! Thanks for the feedback :) Definitely agree, that technique has seen the best regrowth, however I think you're right regarding flow. It is such a mighty difference in height, from the bottom substrate level to the surface of the tank, with the equivalent of an 80ft cliff to jump up...
  58. J

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

Hey Darrel! Apistogramma are still there, however the female jumped during maintenance, only to be discovered when it was too late :( Male looks lovely now though, has coloured up with a nice mohican dorsal.. Cheers
  59. J

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

My favourite view of the tank: Starting to adopt a slight jungly feel, just wish the rotundifolia would grow to its full potential... Pretty, pretty petchii. What a total beaut! I'm a sucker for crypts, and have never kept this one before. Lav it! A bodged airline raft for stray...

  65. J

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

The Apistogramma pair actually get on really well, even when she's had enough of him. Under the rock on the right, there is a tunnel system that extends to the back of the tank, If he is expelled from there, he can go unnoticed on the upper levels. Post WC, Hardware included... Pfft, that...

Light Ideas for an aqua nano 40

I run an AquaNano 40, under Spring Passage if you're interested. Initially a TMC MiniLED 400, which I upgraded to a Grobeam 600. However I do inject C02, that would be overkill for a low tech. Look into the MiniLED 400 maybe? Cheers, Joe

  82. J

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

Stems added, looks much better I think. I also narrowed the passage to emphasise the scale of the cliffs a bit more, I think it's worked. Also, the new stems have given the tank that slight jungle look that I crave.. Photos to follow once water has cleared as I added more JBL plant soil...

PAR readings for TMC Mini Led 400 and TMC GroBeam 600

I read this on the site too, was great to compare different models. How do you think this relates to height from substrate? Will this 400mm rating be from the surface of the water?
  86. J

    65 Liter 60x30x42 'no name'

Greenfinch, what an amazing tank! So pleasing to read through, and totally agree with Mr. Teapot, it must have been a joy to live with! I'm sure it's mentioned somewhere along the line but I couldn't find your ferts regime? What were you dosing? Really enjoying the new UG scape too!
  89. J

Hi Folks, I have a TMC AquaRay Control unit, however don't have the connecting parts to link the circuit. I use a TMC Mini LED 400, and a TMC Grobeam 600. In the OP's image (not my tank), his AquaRay control unit has USB connectors on the left side.. Does anyone know what I need to...

    Help with my tank!

Hey Julian, How has it been since increased light intensity? Also, what adaptors do you have on your AquaRay control unit? I have the black box, but obviously can't insert USB connectors from the light. Did they come with it when you bought it? Cheers, Joe
  96. J

PAR readings for TMC Mini Led 400 and TMC GroBeam 600

Spring Passage - 40cm Cube *Updated Pics!*

Day 13 Update Plants are settling in and taking root, and I haven't seen any algae growth which is promising. My drop checker indicates over 20ppm of Co2 by lights on and flow is reaching all plants. To fine tune this I have ordered a pH pen, £12 hydroponics tool from fleabay. A crystal red...

    My first Iwagumi

Scape looks great, what plants do you have? Some surface agitation via filter outlet or air bubbles through the night will help to gas off excess carbon dioxide and replenish the water column with oxygen. Following with interest, good luck! Joe
