Since I've been dosing with ferts my Nitrate levels have been through the roof as I'm obviously adding Potassium Nitrate
Should I be worried by this at all or does this added Nitrate affect the fish differently to that produced during the nitrogen cycle?
Mines just starting to get 'snotty' been in about a week so still floating just scrubbing it off with a toothbrush and popping back in tank and seems to be doing the trick
Ah thats good I can stop being so strict with it
I also need to change my regime too as my wc day which is currently a wednesday and ideally needs to be a Sunday to suit work and family duties
If only a spirit level to hand
Tape off one end of the pipe and fill half way with water and tape off the other
Using the spirit level find dead flat surface and place pipe on it and the water inside will give a dead level line all the way across the centre
Mark this with a white board marker...
I want to use these and fill with gravel to add depth in my tank but wanted to make these would be suitable as they are a lot cheaper than standard media bags but I was worried about the orange dye...
This conversion is going to eventually be used a very sparsely if at all planted tank with various tree roots and leaf litter that will have a natural tea coloured water so the need for super bright LED's isn't too much of an issue as its not the look I'm after
But I understand what you're...
I've hopefully got another coming broken unit coming in a few days and I intend to strip that one out and replace it with LED tubes and a dimmer/variable unit instead of the standard ballast and fluorescent tubes
I've repaired several of these and never had one fail for any of my Vision 180's but I strip off the whole length of the light (lid side) as one section, replace any parts and reseal again with clear silicone
Same as this
I've got 3 T8 fittings on my tank and wanted to add a red tube for watching my plecs coming out at night. I had one before but the only replacement they had at the pet shop were red heat lamps which are no good
Would this be okay...
When I started using ferts I too experienced the very high nitrate readings and at first panicked but nothing bad has happened. All the fish are swimming and feeding the same as they were prior to the introduction of ferts
Its roughly 2WPG on for 10hrs a day with a 2hr siesta period half way through
CO2 is something I know very little about and seems an expensive initial setup
Got this equipment myself and to achieve pellets or 'dumbells' as we'd call them use a diameter of 2-4mm smaller then your tables diameter as the same size would produce round balls or 'boilies'
