I think it's just the way "Ei Di Ei" soils are. My previous scape consisted totally of Aquasoil Malaya, I'd say 10% of it turned to dust in the fist year, the remaining 90% in the subsequent 2 years. Rescaped with JBL proscape and couldn't be happier.

They are a bit harder than laterite, almost like baked clay, I'm not sure they will get soft. How long does it take for laterite to disolve? I think I'm going to try and put one in a glass of water and see if it get mushy.

Great clean scape. Congratulations. I use a garden hose for water changes, but I start the siphoning by pressing the tank end of the hose against the outflow of the filter, no sucking required :D

I use: -Credit/Debit card for scraping glass -Tea towels for general drying -Turkey baster for blowing detritus into suspension before water changes

I think the Aquascaper 600 should be compared to the ADA 60H, they are more similar. I'd still prefer the 600 though.

Just tested it with the CO2 and is working wonderfully :) Just a heads up, my Reg was loose on the place it attaches to the bottle/FE and I had to screw it on with an allen key. It's something I think you should warn buyers to have at hand.
