Pomacea Canaliculata - What to do?

This has probably happened to some of us before, but a quick search did not find much. I purchased a couple of "Golden apple snails", my daughter found them funny and I thought "why not" without much consideration. Ever since then, I have been catering for their leafy appetites. From anubias...

    Hydor Koralia Nano

    Hydor Koralia Nano

Hi all, I've wanted to add a wavemaker to my 80cm tank and wanted something small and unintrusive so was thinking of a Koralia Nano. The problem is that I can hardly find any in UK shops, and when I do, they are £50+ I've got a cheap All Pond Solutions one for now but it's big and...

    Inline reactor with inline pump

Thank you, that was my thinking as well. I wish I could visualize the CO2 distribution with a reactor and with an atomizer, I believe the reactor gives a better mix, but can't be sure. I've gone back to the reactor with the reduced flow, I'll try it for a month or so and then test the new...

    Inline reactor with inline pump

Good afternoon all, I'm currently considering what is the best option in terms of CO2 diffusion. I have played with inline atomizers, inline reactors and regular atomizers. I am currently divided between just having an in-tank atomizer close to the filter intake or an inline reactor. I...

Thank you, I'm planning on visiting next week. I might not be going with the collections as I'm not the biggest fan of cryptos. The ludwigia mini super red looks good, and I'll probably add some pogostemon helferi and a carpeting plant. Just a suggestion: If the 36" collection is recommended...

    Oase BioMaster Thermo External Filter

I have the Biomaster 600 with heater and am having constant air bubbles. The problem subsides if I keep the filter tilted so that the heater is lower than the out/intake. This makes me suspicious that air is coming in through the heater on the top. I'm going to grease or replace the O-ring...

    Questions about plant collections

Hi there, I'm about to restart my 80x40x40cm high energy tank. What plant collection would suit it better - 30" or 36"?~ I'm guessing since your standard tanks are aquascaper sized, maybe the 30" or smaller would be enough due to my tank being shallower and narrower. Thank you

I think it's just the way "Ei Di Ei" soils are. My previous scape consisted totally of Aquasoil Malaya, I'd say 10% of it turned to dust in the fist year, the remaining 90% in the subsequent 2 years. Rescaped with JBL proscape and couldn't be happier.

    Anyone used clay root sticks?

They are a bit harder than laterite, almost like baked clay, I'm not sure they will get soft. How long does it take for laterite to disolve? I think I'm going to try and put one in a glass of water and see if it get mushy.

Are AquariumPlantFoods recommended EI dosages sufficient?

Thanks for your reply Tim. The issue with the H. Pinnatifida was only the catalyst for my search, not the main issue. The main issue for me is why would APF recommend such a meager regime under the EI philosophy, which aims for "infinite" amounts of nutrients.

Thanks for your reply Zeus. I've had the same issue with P Helferi which is now perking up. It's just confusing to me that a company would recommend half the amount that EI actually calls for, especially since they are the ones that sell the product, and in my mind would be interested in...

Yes Darrel, that would be an explanation. If that is the case, I urge twinstar to say it, make it a selling point. Right now, twinstar only tells us that they're unique and the product just works, no one says what makes it unique and why does it work better, and that gives me an itch.

That's going to be hard... Is it possible for you to move the stock from the 90L to the 110L momentarily? Because a disturbance of the soil is going to raise your ammonia levels. One thing you could do, but would also be risky, would be to use some of the soil from the 110L on the 90L, as it...
