    Stocking 46l Fluval Edge, Apistos?

Hi Ollie :) Apistogrammas tend to require a minimum of 60l (which I still think is a bit small). Certain species are pair forming whereas others do better in harems, with the male courting a number of females. From those i've seen, Panduros remain relatively small and are pair forming to a...

    Kessil Timer

Hi all, I'm a bit stuck in searching for a timer for my A150 amazon sun. Have recently gone through two mechanical ones, both of which advertised a 3000w limit. They probably weren't the most solidly built, having come from a local supermarket. Can anyone recommend an alternative that has...

    Boiling Redmoor

Hi, I think the fungus/slime you're talking about is saprolegnia - I used a bunch of redmoor in my rcs tank with no problems. Saprolegnia formed too. I know tiger snails take care of it quite readily.

    Best Substrate For RCS?

Its a strange coincidence but I have experienced something similar recently. I had a breeding group of cherries in my fluvial spec v. After a few batches of shrimplets I added a bag of planting stratum because the original substrate wasn't deep enough for the plants. Since doing so the...

Endangered unfortunately too :( They're found in India in what used to be large shoals until the aquatics industry found them.

A poster of aquatic plants haha. If Athena style means named with pretty pictures then yes thats the one. Sorry for the confusion, should have been clearer :)

    Aquatic Plant poster

Sorry in advance if this thread isn't in the right place. Wasn't too sure where it would be best suited. Does anyone know where I may be able to get ahold of an aquatic plant poster within the UK? I'm aware Azoo have them available in the US, but paying more for P&P then for the item itself...

The stock lighting can grow pretty much everything. Doesn't look too bad imo either. Are you opting for any CO2?

    What have I done!

Maybe you could ask you lfs to order in some specific plants? More often than not they have access to a wider variety but won't order them in if there isn't the demand. As for the filter, do you know what make/model it is? That may help indicate its turnover :)

    Denison Barbs?

They're disappearing from their natural habitats rapidly so I think its a bit of a necessity to scare people away. Not that this will prevent them being imported however.

Help! My plants are dying, not growing

Don't plants go through some sort adjustment period after being moved to a new aquarium? I'm not preaching this as the answer by the way, just curious :).

    Any Suggestions?

Hi all, In the process of setting up a 50cm cube at the moment. Kessil Amazon Sun and Co2 unit are on their way but I've been itching to get started so began scaping. I'm looking for some opinions. Sorry about the dodgy photo!

£65 is appealing but I think the Kessil is probably more suited - prefer the compact look and I can get one for a decent price. Wish I was allowed another alongside this one but the girlfriend can only cope with two tanks in our little flat. I will be following yours closely :)

I think you've convinced me haha. Not too fussed about the noise as the sound of running water fills the air almost permanently. At roughly the same height you have it, do you reckon there will be much spill over my 50x50cm footprint?

Surprised by the size of the orphek in comparison, had any first hand experience? The TMC is pleasing price wise but having to buy a dimmer and the mounting kit separately is slightly irritating. Thanks Mike, People seem to think you're paying more for the design rather than usability. Plus, I'm looking for something which will emit a bit of heat in the hope of promoting emerged growth - this seems to be the thing Kessil is trying to minimise, which is understandable. Saying that, the...

    Saprolegnia

Evening everyone. I've been lurking the site for a while and finally plucked up the courage to create a user :). As the title suggests, I've been struck with a case of the white-fuzzies on a few new pieces of Redmoor root in my shrimp only 19l fluval spec. I'm reluctant to take them out of...

Re Scaping the "Bit in the Middle"

Scape looks really nice, could possibly trim those centre plants down to conform to the diagonal line you've already started on the right hand side. This often helps as it leads your eyes to a centre point. Healthy looking plants by the way.
