    My new aquarium thread.

I have one with pre drilled pipes that come through the bottom. I've been very happy with it for the 6 years (& it's survived 2 house moves). I had to put another pump in the far corner as you can't get any other outlets other than the 2-way fish tails which limits the flow a bit. Mostly running...

Help needed - very bizarre and a bit off topic...

I'd ignore this too - take some text from the email and search for it on google using quotation marks around the text (this searches for the exact text). I bet you any money you will find the exact same email listed as a scam somewhere... Best thing you can do if try to let Diana know her email...

Notice my Lilly was looking a little bedraggled whilst conducting a water change Looks like snail damage to me but I can't see any in the tank; are any of the following culprits known Lilly-munchers? M. Praecox Pseudomugil Furcatus Cherry shrimp Amano shrimp 1 Siamese algae eater Thanks

    Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish

Sanj - do you have any advice for what to look for when buying these guys? I'm keen to avoid weak Asian imports but not sure what to be looking out for. Also I'd love to find some as intensely coloured as yours but am i right in assuming they're likely to look pretty drab as youngsters?

Thanks guys :) I have the EI set just haven't got round to using it yet; wanted to use TPN+ to ease me back in and avoid info overload for my simple mind!

    Tropica premium fertiliser

Hi guys Trying to sort my tanks out after an unplaned hiatus and things seem to have changed a bit since... just a quick one this time - is the Tropica premium fertiliser basically the new name for TPN+? (Plant Growth Premium Fertiliser) Thanks

    Good Fancy Goldfish Forums?

Sorry i'm slightly resurrecting an old post but try: goldfishkeepers.com rafflesgold.com (a bit dead these days but has tons of info) You could also join the Goldfish Society of Great Britain for ~£15/year and they have a pretty active member's-only site (http://gsgbmembers.co.uk/home/)

    Spray bars

Hiya guys, Just a quick question - the flow out my eheim spray bar doesn't seem very straight and tends to fire the water out to the left. I've tried turning it over and one way is better than the other but it still fires the water towards the left. I've not used them before so is this normal...

    Philips Aquarium Purifier

sorry i've not been able to reply as life's been a bit of a roller coaster recently. Ceg you're right i didn't clarify much and was quick to jump to conclusions - it's a very low tech tank and really isn't run with plants in mind but i like having them there as the Goldfish are so messy it...

    Philips Aquarium Purifier

Interesting... I'm intrigued, can you elaborate on how to get an accurate NO3 reading? There was quite a lot of algae in the tank to begin with of various kinds - would increased nitrates not encourage this to grow or do they not use nitrates in the same way plants do?

    Philips Aquarium Purifier

Well i've had it running for a week now and cue massive algae attack :-s I suspect Nitrate might be the main cause as buy the end of the week i had a nitrate reading of about 50ppm - kudos i suppose it's doing what it's meant to. I did a water change as the brightness of pink in the test was...

    Philips Aquarium Purifier

Thanks for the replies guy  I think I'll use it in the goldfish tank which has some plants but nothing particularly demanding and see how it goes. Do you think it'll have a big impact on the bacteria in the filter since it won't have anything to 'eat'? It does say keep the filter...

    Post Holiday Revamp

Thanks ady I'd like to take credit for the gravel pieces but they are in fact are just the power sand that got ripped up when taking out the c. Parva and e. tennelus  Boy those things have roots! I quite like it though and it'll save me an evening picking them out with tweezers! I think...

    Philips Aquarium Purifier

Has anyone used one of these before? http://www.charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk/ ... -3681.html I had one brought for me as a surprise birthday present but i'm a bit sceptical to say the least- any ideas if it would cause problems with a planted tank? I'm running out of excuses to stall installing...

Choosing 1st tank - Dennerle Nano 60L vs Juwel Trigon 190

Re: Choosing 1st tank - Dennerle Nano 60L vs Juwel Trigon 19 I'm a relative newbie to aquascaping myself so have limited experience, but I have an eheim ecco pro 300 to keep in line with the 10x turnover; it's quite a flow so maybe a Betta wouldn't be such a good idea. As far as the lights go...

Choosing 1st tank - Dennerle Nano 60L vs Juwel Trigon 190

I have the Dennerle 60L tank and really love it but if you're looking for maximum stocking opportunities I'd say you'd be better off with the other tank - I often wish it was just a tiny big longer as a lot of fish prefer the longer swimming area. Also bear in mind that if you want to use the...

    cruise hill (london)

I wouldn't say Crews Hill is great for plants to be honest. Wildwoods always have a good selection of fish and plenty of hard scape materials though and if you're into marine there's a pretty good shop behind one of the pet stores on the main-stretch of shops.

Randy otos getting jiggy?...I've got babies!

Randy otos getting jiggy? Yep - mine started this year too :) next time I catch them at it I'm going to try and gather a few of the eggs and see if they hatch before the blue-eyes gobble them up.

    Dying Amanos

I found one of my Amano's yesterday being oddly still during a water change; normally they either avoid me completely or follow me around hoping I'll have unearthed something tasty for them to eat. A gentle nudge made it obvious something wasn't right and the poor shrimp didn't seem to have the...

    Raising Otos

Hi guys - does anyone have experience of raising oto fry? I've just witnessed my otos embraced in the t-position and can see a few clusters of eggs where they've been embraced and i'd love to try raising them :) My main concerns are around 1) what do i feed them if/when they hatch; and 2)...

New 4ft journal The Island 2 updated 11/09/2011 HELP

I second this and not forgetting the pipes; you'd be surprised the impact it has. Just cleaning my filter pipes has dramatically improved the flow in my tank - I might even have to turn the flow down a bit to give the poor fish a rest!

    Hagen Trade Exhibition 2011

Excellent as always! I've always wondered how you'd go about planting anything in the Edge aquariums unless you have extremely bendy wrists. Out of interest did the Roma have the pre-drilled inlet and outlet pipes?

Would you fancy a evening at ADC in London? 30th June

I think we'll be grabbing some food after work then wandering down about 7 - are people likely to be in the pub still as Greg said he would close the shop at 8? Also...can someone wear a funny hat or something so I can find you since I have no idea what you lot look like?

    Hello :)

I think it's time I finally introduced myself as i've been lurking in these forums for far too long (absorbing as much information as I can in the meanwhile). I'm based in North London and currently have two setups; a 240L Fluval Roma housing Goldfish and a 60L Dennerle which has been my...
