Have had Virgin for the last 2 years and no problems at all. However just moved house and got the new superhub and the connection has ground to a halt. Don't know if it's living in a new area or there's an issue with me changing address or if they are having local problems. Nonetheless it is...
That's a really good looking tank Nice, and the prices are very affordable! I'm tempted by one myself, would you recommend them? Did you go for the standard glass or the extra clear in the end?
Also, what was the delivery service like, did it take long from ordering it until it arrived?
I used to use a cheap pond pump I got from the lfs to do water changes which went via a hose pipe out the front door and down the drain. I didn't bother with the filling the bath bit either, just filled the tank straight from the hose pipe and added dechlor as it was filling
Did they though? Do you think the shop has time to investigate the legal status of species every time something new pops up on the importers list?
Yes fair enough you could probably expect an experienced aquarist to know they were illegal. But if a fish comes up on an importers list most would...
Is grassing on the store the correct thing to do? The store may have been unaware these fish were illegal in the trade, and assumed that if it came up on an importers list that they were legal to import / sell in the uk?
Re: Andyh's 190l Lounge tank (update 14-08-11)
Looks fantastic Andy, I love this sort of scape, 'tis right up my street, it's grown in really nicely
I'd love to have something like this in my lounge :)
Re: 120 x 55 x 55 'Ruby' The bits you cant see (pics)@ 4 da
I love those pentazona barbs Mark! Had some in my old tank and they shoal really nicely, look kinda like they're being pulled along by a piece of string! Is it just the 6 you have, if so get some more cuz they look great!
Everyone has such impressive jobs, not fair lol!
I graduated with a 1st BSc in Zoology 3 years ago and now work as an office monkey for a charity, photocopying stuff and writing appointment letters for a living. Gotta live the dream eh!
Re: 120 x 55 x 55 'Ruby' Tank and cabinet arrive!
Looks great Mark, can't wait to see this set up, I have no doubt it will be to your usual high standard!
Is it my eye/the photo or is the rail the light unit is hanging from bending slightly?
I disagree, I don't think the ATI is any less reliable or lower quality than Giessemann.
I know a lot of people who use the ATI powermodule in the reefing world and they have nothing but high praise for them
There are fish in his tank which used to belong to people I know.
I would be terrified having a pool table so close to the tank though, one stray ball and thats a hell of a lot of water on the floor!
EDIT - having read the article, the tank is acrylic not glass which would possibly explain the...
Re: Longleat Safari Park
Some fantastic shots there, I always enjoy going to Longleat, been there quite a fwe times in recent years.
My understanding is that a UV filter reduces glare such as the light being reflected off the water which is what seems to be the problem you are having :?:
I like Macs, I love how they look so sleek and sexy, and are very good for photo/video editing. The saying is so very true "pc users swear at their computers, mac users swear by their computers", but I will still always stick with a pc for the forseeable future. I don't like the idea of paying...
Don't go Mark. Don't care about what others think or say, do it for yourself and your own personal pleasure and development within the hobby.
If you're dead set on leaving then I respect your decision, but I think you would be making a huge mistake, both for yourself and the hobby as a whole. I...
I agree with all the above regarding the 1.8, in terms of what you get for the money you spend, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal on any lens. Don't own it myself but borrowed a friends for a while, image quality is very good

"BERLIN (Reuters) - A badger in Germany got so drunk on over-ripe cherries it staggered into the middle of a road and refused to budge, police said on Wednesday.
A motorist called police near the central town of Goslar to report a dead...
If you are able to keep up the daily 20% changes on the 180l then you should be ok with the discus
I would go with the EX1200 personally, but you can't go wrong with an Eheim either, I'm not a big of the Fluval externals myself however
Unless you're going for a breeding pair of discus I would say a 180l is a little on the small side for discus. 5 in a 50/55gal is the absolute minimum I would say.
If the discus are the only fish and you do very large and/or very frequent water changes you may just get away with it however.
Never found the root of the problem. It all went wrong when I attempted to install SP3, so I performed a system restore to the day before I attempted the SP3 install, and all is working fine now.
Not an ideal fix I know, I'd have liked to have found out what the cause was and fixed that, but its...
