    Autumn is here.

George, I have the contrast slider all the way to 10. (in any preset) In the DPP edit window in the previous image, is basically what i use, the only thing changed is highlight and shadow. for video, I'll use 'neutral' One thing i will change at the time of shooting is colour tone, but...

Here's the comparison, on the left, is whats on the net, the middle pic is what came off the camera. You can see how i set up the camera from the DPP 'window' Hopefully, you can see that what i shoot comes straight from the camera.

nice colours. Another good subject for getting to grips with a DSLR
  4. Mark Evans

    Autumn is here.

cheers mate. The only thing I've done is boost contrast (DPP) , and add a touch of 'curves' in PS. great tools for boosting colour richness without actually touching the colour. It's a typical 'me' thing to really add too much contrast, but it's a look i like. The drain pipe, still niggles me.

A snap on the way home from town. I've eyed this wall up for some time, and it's just coming good. well, thanks for looking. I was reluctant to get the skew tool out to straighten lines, taken with sigma 15-30

possibly, but the high speed camera reference, shows it was shot on a high end, HD canon video camera. Not sure what the DSLR was their for. It definitely shows it though. DOF on the 65mm is unbearable at times.

at one point in the vid, it shows a dslr fitted with the 65mm MP-E. awseome vid. I may try this to get 'in touch' with my gear.

Good Canon EF-S Macro Lens. Any Suggestions?

Great pic Dan! the sigma 70-300 apo-DG is a great lens, for it's low price tag. Cheaply made, but it's just £120 (cheaper if you hunt around). The images though, are cracking. Add a flash, and you'll get some stunning images from it. A little like the infamous 50mm from canon.

rather than just going into a shop and trying every canon in your price range (if choosing a dslr) buy a compact flash card, or borrow one. Then shove it into the cameras you try in the shop and take the card home and view them. This is what i do when buying a lens. It's great when you play...

    Mark, George and project scree.

Peter, can you control the output? or is that with the light's at full whack? I find with the bowens lighting, you can control the light on a scale of 1-6...6 being the full 200w. you can shoot both lights at half power(no.3) , f11 1/200s iso 50. for the creative side, just turn the output...

I'm a telephoto man. anything from 70mm up to my current fave the 135mm. I've shot @ 300mm and got some great images. I don't bother. It adds to the drama IMO. this is with a 15mm on a full frame sensor. when compared to the 'flatter' looking 135mm The smaller the tank, the less likely...
  22. Mark Evans

    Mark, George and project scree.

Yes, it's perfect. It's a simple as 'plug and play' just place the strobes directly over the tank, and the light spill is good for lighting the back of the tank. You must though, pull the tank away from the wall. very important. maybe 300mm/12 inch yes, more strobes rather than more light. 2...

Viktor, it's not a problem to share technique and stuff  In the past, i've set up lighting like this. 2 x 200w strobes directly over the tank... On a 60cm tank, this is plenty to achieve the look you see in George's tank shots. You need to let the light 'spill' onto the back...
