Aren't needle valves supposed to close fully?

I found those black ones were no good Tom. The metal ones from AE are alot better, but still dont offer a great deal of fine control. I've looked into 'proper' needle valves for hydraulic purposes from companies like Camozzi but havent found one suitable yet. I'd like to have an accurate low...

TMC AquaGro CO2 Power Diffuser 1000

Hi I have one of these in my big tank - I've been running it for about a month now. It diffuses very well, with only a fine mist visible in the tank ( akin to the UP inline diffusers ) and doesn't noticeably reduce the flow. That said it is within the tank, hidden behind stems and thats the...

Do pub style cannisters require a stand?

Hi Amanda I just got some of these last week. They do stand on their own, but are not very stable as they are so tall and narrow (82cm x 14cm). I bought a couple of straps from B&Q which I screwed to the wall so that they cant fall over :D Tony

    Inline diffusers??

Another vote for the UP from me :). I just fitted 2 on my optiwhite and the difference is amazing - a fine mist of micro bubbles all round the tank ( helped by koralias following the flow of the lily pipes). Much better than the aqua medic 1000, or the glass intank diffuser I was using. Tony

Exploding solenoid valves (Magnetic switch block)

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the solenoid, but pleased you're getting some money back. I've never heard of exploding solenoids - does this happen much ? It got me thinking that having my FE set up alongside my tank might not be a good plan - could the force of the exploding 'bit'...

    co2 dosing, drop checker

Hi Lee I'm going through exactly the same thing, but am adjusting the bubble rate, and the time the CO2 switches on to try to get the DC green when the lights come on, but not to get too yellow as the day goes on. I'm switching the CO2 on 15mins earlier each day and seeing when it gets to...

    splitting co2

Hi Nick AE do a Y splitter for CO2 (mine should be arriving today ! :D ). You'll need a non return valve at each tank too. http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1254 Tony

    Bubble counter water problem

I've had problems with water siphoning back past "non-return" valves - they were cheapies from the LFS though. Replaced them with the brass ones from AE and all works fine now: http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1607
