do you need one? they kill pathogens but a healthy tank shouldnt experience problems, it has also been said that the water can become "too clean" in which case the fishes immune system is weaker. it can break down the chelator in trace mixes. it kills algae cells that pass through it, that...

i have had lots of tanks where they have been the same length, but shorter in depth so not sure how it would look. Have you looked in the argos? Lots of people use cabinets from there then just put a support inside the cabinet.

the 305 & 405 have slightly larger piping, you could use hose reducers but it will slow the flow down. I am not sure which filters, but some brand names to be looking at include eheim, tetratec and JBL - these seem to be the main filters used in the hobby the Hydor ETH is the only external...

    just an idea,

  53. A

    just an idea,

it is ok, it is basically like having an internal though. once planted, you wont be able to see the heater & filter anyway! You could always use glass if you are that bothered. why are you using a ph probe? is that for CO2 monitoing?

    Bow fronted aquariums?

i liked them until i put all the decor and fish in, it makes them slightly bigger. I wish i had a flat panel.they are ok to get a bit more water volume if you need it - not ideal for plants though

    Wave Maker !

as long as there were no surface agitation then the powerhead wouldnt cause loss of CO2

Building your own tank - how do you do it?

I am wanting to DIY a tank - 30" x 15" x 15" It is in fact for a mississippi map turtle and it only needs to be filled a third of the way so will the silicone be strong enough or will it need a brace? I am a bit wary of this :? where do you get glass from? and how much are glass cutters...
