I use a cheap lead off amazon which can fit timers side by side. Not sure if this is what you mean but all my plugs and timers fit perfectly using these. I like the fact they have individual switches. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01H8UV332?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

New tank EA aquascaper vs 90P

The mat is stuck on to the bottom of the tank already, you just have place the tank on the outer frame. I'll send a photo of the inside of the cabinet as theres like 1 on the net, so that's why i was shocked when there was no top panel. I have the anthracite grey version which is great and...

New tank EA aquascaper vs 90P

I've got a AS900 with "aqua frame" cabinet and using an oase BM600T. I'm very happy with it all, the cabinet doors/walls are pretty solid and feel nice to open and close. Big bonus was the cabinet came already built so didn't have to spend ages making sure i've built it properly. The cabinet...

Making trace mix for hard water

I use both DTPA and EDDHA FE in my micro mix as EDTA is unavailable because my PH does not drop below PH7. The DTPA also becomes unavailable in my tank the next day as it gets broken down by light during the photo-period and my PH goes above 7.5 when degassed. So the EDDHA helps a lot by keeping...

    Tropica Aquarium Soil top up

Depending on how much you plan to add, maybe you could pre-soak the new tropica soil in a bucket or storage container for a week or two while replacing the water every day or 2 to minimise any ammonia release before putting it in the tank?

    Cleaning External Filters

I don't normally clean the filter on water change day just because i usually spend about 1.5-2 hours trimming plants and scrubbing hardscape, cleaning the filter/pipes/glassware would take me longer and i usually don't have the time. My EA Aquascaper has just arrived.. :D

Random tip...... Put/stick a little bit of foam or something at the bottom of the circular cut out on the cabinet, on the side your filter pipes will be. Reduces any extra noises caused by the tubing resting on the cabinet cutouts resulting in vibrating or droning noise.

    CO2 levels problem

I use my drop checker and a PH pen. I'm not a fan of the "1 point drop" anymore, mainly because i can't achieve it in my tank without stressing the fish, even with good surface agitation. Amano and Cherry Shrimp keep dying!

It could just be the co2 and lack of oxygen? Being on for 21hours is excessive, especially when the lights are off. Way lower oxygen levels, no co2 is being used, but more co2 is being added from the plants. Plus the shrimp are probably more active at night so use more oxygen? I would: 1)...

I don't think the light is under powered, it's more my hardscape arrangement which shadows the MC on the left hand side. The right hand side looks fine for light, but maybe it isn't getting enough because it's slightly shadowed and my inlet/outlet sits above it.

Ah no that's a shame, not what you need after the stress of getting it all set up and planted! The only time i've had a leak from my oase filter is when the power cord wasn't in the correct position. I would take it apart and lubricate the o-rings(s) a lot and see if you can get a setter seal.

I would either: 1) put them in the bath to soak with some thin bleach 2) put some excel/easycarbo in a syringe and drip onto the wood until it's been covered, after a couple mins scrub and rinse. I would try option 2 as i don't like the idea of soaking wood in bleach.

Does good 'flow and distribution' always require high current?

I think not many of us actually achieve a 10x turnover, most probably only like 5x, but makes sense to aim for 10x as by the time the filter has media inside and gunk its probably half that. For my tank that's full of rotala at the back i have to be careful not the stunt it from battering it...

MG/FE deficiency in S. Repens and Rotala Indica

I think tropica use some strong chelates already so no need to buy anything new right now, tropica ferts are great. If you increase your dose you should see better results in 2 weeks. You have tropica specialised nutrition? If so the recommended dose is 3 pumps per week in a 50L. So that more...

MG/FE deficiency in S. Repens and Rotala Indica

I would leave everything the same for now! Just up the dosing and wait 2 weeks, if the new growth on the plants is good, then you're on the right track. Then you can think about increasing light, co2 and more ferts. The more light and co2 you have the more ferts (food) your plants will need, you...

MG/FE deficiency in S. Repens and Rotala Indica

Over dosing ferts is fine and won't harm your shrimp or cause algae. Can I run my light/ferts plan by you guys

For a 300L tank you should be dosing 30ML a day to be dosing around EI levels, so 210ml a week would give you: Aquarium gardens have always advised me to dose "tnc complete" using the instructions from "aquascaper complete". Which is daily dose of 5ml per 50L for high light tank.
