So far no algae, but due to ADA clear water all my guppies died. I've now stocked Oryzias woworae.

That looks like an oversized ADA Vuppa 2 Outflow.
so far - no algae. Started fertilizing with N+P a week ago.
~80 days runtime so far.
Full tank shot
A few detail shots. Never cleaned...
I bought them 2 years ago. They worked well and were exactly the plant described.
I have one of the self watering tupes by roellke orchids in germany. Works like a charm and leaks only minimally (10ml a day) when not fully grown...
If leaves decay you have more organic matter in the tank which the bacterias have to keep up with than if you would just remove the "dead" leaves.
The iron in most fertilizers is chelated and unharmful for invertables. Even soft chelated fertilizers such as the Aqua Rebell Micro Flowgrow is...
Preordered. Thank you ;)
Melaine is melamine. I got mine from aliexpress. 8$ for 2 shoe-sized boxes incl. shipping.
And i keep the plant since a few month and it really grows nicely and you're able to keep it small with pruning.
I'm a big fan of the Tungsten steel scissors from Aquarebell/Flowgrow.
You're looking for a Loop / Spin Pipe. ;)
Just upload them on this forum...
Lumens measure different wavelenghts then PAR, so most RGB lights are weaker for a human (Lumen) then for a plant (PAR).
Well, when they crack they break and are able to pass through.
Well, lets get a few basics layed down.
1. GH should be around 5-6°dH
2. pH should be around 6,5
3. KH needs (for the pH to be 6,5) to be around...
And furthermore they'll shrink and fall through the bag.
The easiest way to wash it is putting the sand in a pillow case and spray it with a tube.
Its widely accepted in germany since a decade for hobbyists. For reference check this post. He only uses ceramic rings and observes that the...
You were on the wrong rock. Unzan is pure volcanic rock.
ADA unzan stone is a lava stone which got manipulated (by hand/machine?). A friend has some and they are 100% lava.
Take 1 spoon of healthy compost earth and dissolve it in 500ml water. if you want, you can filter it through a coffee filter. This water should...
Thats exactly what i'm talking about.
A healty tank has (IMO) the right and enough bacterias. How you get them? Stable and smooth first 2-3 month...
Yes, but in a healthy tank there is no surface scum, because it can get removed by bacteria before it starts to appear.
There is no scum ;) I just use the skimmer to reach CO2 levels faster and have more stable O2.
Yes. Without a sponge in the skimmer on half power. No problems.
Pre glasware cleaning ;)
Jokes aside, the tank is looking healthy and crisp clean!
Those are F1 from my wild caught Apistogramma Baenschi:

If you use the steam. Otherwise the KH actually raises as just H2O boils off.
Furthermore, if you heat up water you could have an issue...
Green Aqua sells a 3D printed protector which replaces the top part. Works fien for me since a few weeks.
To add another POV to this: I think BGA is more in competition with our "good" biofilm, but due to missing water movement below the Eleocharis...
Its quite nice, although you really have fewer options for lights than with 60P or 90P.
120 liters is easy to handle, not to big but not to small.
I dont test at all.
I know for a fact, that RO water + MgSO4x7H2O + CaCl2x2H2O + KCO3 will give me a certain amount of Ca, Mg, K. With weekly...
JPC, i maintain a certain ratio of Ca:Mg:K which helped me a lot.
3:1:0,5 - Ca:Mg:K ... You can wiggle a bit around, but as long as K < Mg i have...
Yes, most likely. Aquafleur looks like the emersed version to me.
Yep its the same plant.
Further details here.
Yesterday was the first trimming - just the Riccardia.
Dont you mean H2S?
Let me just grab my Mini S Tank. They'll fit in there.
No, i'll just dose 3 days a week manually
Sure. Dennerle V30 S7 E15 or the whole Aqua Rebell lineup would be my choice. Source.
I would go for Neocaridina spp. or Caridina multidentata. I do like snails, but not Neritina spp. for plants tanks.
Thats pretty much the most expensive water you could buy. Why dont you buy more concentrated fertz or DIY?
In the german forum there is one guy running his aquarium without waterchanges since 1986. Just changed water once (or twice) due to a leaking...
If you dont have any NO2 or NH4+ in your water, you can add shrimp and fish.
I would not get Nerite(!) Snails. Either Planorbarius corneus or...
Okay, that went lost in translation. In german peat moss is Spagnum. The one you meant is called Torf (peat) in german. ;)
The ones aquasabi sells are directly from Chihiros but for the german market with another power supply. Aquasabi doesnt change the power supply,...
Aquasabi is my go to for their stuff as they have the german version with better/higher quality power supplys.
Thats not right. If you got living spagnum, it'll grow.
That doesn't look like a legit Chihiros light.
Not in usual dosings. At pH 7 you can dose 1,3mg/L PO4 and 0,756mg/L Fe(III) without reactions. If you have chelated iron its even higher, as its...
Marcel, those Oryzias look really stunning in there!
Do you keep them outside in the winter too? I've currently a few tanks outside but i'm torn...
Yes. What exactly do you want to know?
Do you have the Pump v1 or v2?
Seen them in person (as well as the ADA ones). Chihiros comes pretty close but has some (minor) imperfections. Also the Chihiros pump isnt that...
Aquasabi has a few more "sale" items today.
Sure, many in different geni. Alternanthera reineckii, Cryptocoryne spp., Tonina spp., Lindernia spp., Syngonanthus spp. ...
~1mm. Indeed, small shrimplets will go through. They are pretty much compareable to the Borneo Wild Outflows
Might be a bit pricy, but those are also available on many shops: http://www.adana.co.jp/en/contents/products/na_filter/detail05.html
That Rotala looks yummy. :pompus:
Antony, thats pretty similar to my preference.
I go along the long side of the tank with the external filter flow and have an additional eheim...
Sounds fine. Why do you want more?
Check this page https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/mikrogeophagus-altispinosus/. That'll help you get an estimate of their origin. Then you can...
I'm using it and there are various cumbersome parts - like the time selection, which never locks right.
But keep in mind, Chihiros is just a team...
Thank you both for the recommendations. I'll add some limnobium laevigatum this evening.
Plants are healthy and rooting, CO2 is stable and unfortunately jumped two fishes. Right now I’ve put a clear wrap on the front half of...
Dont use liquid carbo as a CO2 source, because its not. In facts its an algicide.
Usually the "recommended dose" of a liquid carbos adds just...
ADA has to release guaranteed analysis in terms of how much N-P-K and Traces it adds.
Brighty K: 2,6% K2O - as it also raises KH we can assume...
I got a 60cm WRGB light hanging on top of a 80cm tank. You can see it over here.
I think its fine, as leds have a high radiation angle.
Thats exactly how James Findley from TGM cycled most of his tanks. I dont see any reason not to do it. You might want to add some bottle of...
Each to his own. An aquarium must fit the owners expections in terms of time & material.
For me it's an escape from working on the pc all day and...
I'm pretty much on your side. Just a few remarks, so you understand my reasons.
Next to where i live there is also a huge pumice mine...
I'm currently using a lean water collumn dosing in conjunction with Soil and root tabs. For filtration i settled for something which can reduce...
Just like cutting every other foreground plant. What you need to get them all is a really fine net or a skimmer.
I also use a wet towel to remove...
They are totally fine in there, its just.. Guppies. Actually Wild Type imported from French Guiana last year.
I'm still figuring out how to...
In the meantime i also attached the Riccardia on the roots and added a few fishes.
Btw, superglue still worked under water, as long as there are...
Nope, thats not gonna work.
It really depends. If you did a 10% WC, sure it can be. If you did a 90% WC it shouldnt be.
How much water did you change? How long after did you...
i do have several tanks in my garden on a rack which i want to keep there over the cold month - mainly because the fish need it.
Thats fine probably.
It really depends how much CO2 can offgas while the lights are out. Main reasons for offgassing are surface agitation...
cation exchange isn't suitable for in tank use due to the raising CO2 levels which have to gas off. You could go with some acids to remove...
And furthermore: Every shops want to sell some "rare" stuff to get more customers. The human beeing is a hunter & collector ;)
I had a Twinstar Mini M and a Chihiros Doctor - both in different setups and the only thing i noticed was a "fresher" smell of the water....
I have the Acorus tatarinowii since ~2 years. First year total submerged with 30ppm CO2 - no issues. Now in my pond it grows faster with just wet...
I'll mainly post pictures of the tanks journey in here.

I usually buy larger quantities on weekends at our wholesale for 1-1,5€ pP. If i go to my local shop its ~3€ pP
Yes. Had 25 Black Neons with 100s of Neocaridina in the same 80cm tank for a long time.
long time lurker but just registered now. I'm in the hobby for a few years by now.
Interested in the microbiology in our tanks, the...
