    What 'rule' do you use?

I have no rule other than what looks right. This usually consists of shoals of smaller types, but under stocked. Dave.

    Whats the ultimate shoaling fish?

Not so much the Rasbora, but the Boraras can get a little flighty if they are spooked by somebody suddenly approaching the tank, and I have found one or two crispy ones on the floor. I tend to run the water level a little lower than normal as a result, but jumping hasn`t been a huge problem. Dave.

    Whats the ultimate shoaling fish?

Excellent choices andy. I have kept both types and found them to be true shoalers. Here are some Emerald eye (Rasbora dorsiocellata) from a couple of years ago. Dave.

    Nano fish

Green neons are Paracheirodon simulans, and Cardinals are Paracheirodon axelrodi. Closely related, but ultimately different fish. I was within an ace of filling my 60cm with Greens just before an unknown toxic disaster struck and wiped out the plants. I still intend on getting some, though...

    New additions :) Pygmy cories

They have pygmy corys at TGM, but I am not sure which type. I`ll most likely be getting some for my 60cm when I set it up soon. Dave.

    Ruby Tetra

I think it is generally down to safety in numbers and give them time to get used to the movement of people around the room. Not that I ever sorted out the same problem I had with my Cardinals. Dave.

    copper Harlequins

I`m not too sure, Thomas. The Harlequins are a definite shoe in due to her who must be obeyed, but the Gouramis may be dependent on any other suggestions. Dave.

    copper Harlequins

I am planning on filling my 240l with a shoal of the above, with the possibility of some Chocolate Gouramis. Whilst I don`t mind mixing plants from different regions, I think too an eclectic mix of fish looks odd. Can anybody recommend any other readily available fish from the S.E. Asia area to...

    best shoaling

I second Embers for shoaling. TMG are just growing some on now, which look far better quality than the ones I bought from elsewhere. Dave.

    Micro fish

Here`s my Rasbora dorsiocellata in a 60cm x 30cm x 36cm. I`m not sure exactly how big they will get, but they look great ATM. I`ve had them since around May, and they have hardly grown at all from 1.5cm. I have also got some Hyphessobrycon amandae (Ember tetras) in my 24l which are a real...

    Zebra danios

I like Zebra Danios, but maybe thay are little too mainstream. How about Hatchetfish? Their shape would make a nice contrast to your other types. Dave.

    Zebra danios

I bought some Rasbora dorsiocellata, and they are my favourite fish by a mile. Although they are all over the tank, they spend most of the time in the mid or upper water and are full of energy. They constantly chase eachother and go through what appears to be some kind of mating routine...

The most unusual fish that works in a planted tank...

The entseyui fish that Takashi Amano uses are prehistoric looking and an amazing shape, yet they still compliment the scape, rather than distract from it. In terms of plecos Flora, there`s a guy on here that keeps Pitbulls in a heavily planted tank. Dave.
