Just wondering if this single dosing pump will work ? I use the one stop fert products like Tropica Specialised or Easy Life Profito. I also question where and how you would mount this or can it simply be below tank level in the cabinet ?

It looks like just the pump head? I think you would need something to control the amount/time. If you are below the tank I think you want either a non return valve or the exit to be above the water level.

Thanks for the quick reply here . Ok follow when it indicated the flow rate options from 0 to 23ml and the speed ranges from 0.1 to 60rpm I presumed this was built in and programmable, but agree looking at the picture of the pump it surely needs something else or at least a built-in app to control things remotely ..

Quite a few issues with pumps like this:
- Only 3 roller, so may suffer from backflow if pump is mounted below the outlet pipe.
- You either place storage container at same level as pump and outlet to prevent back flow.
- Or use a one way valve to prevent back flow. Then make sure one way valve doesn't block.
  • Need a 6V variable supply. Variable supply so you can control flow rate, as the default of 23ml per minute is very high for fertz dosing (unless your tank is monster).
  • Once you vary the supply voltage the dosing may becomes quite erratic/variable as the motor will not be running at full supply voltage. You should be able to calibrate the pump though to get reasonable accurate dosing.

Much better to choose a low rate dosing pump (with 4 rollers) ie 3ml per minute and just vary the on time to get the dose you require.

I used these for years, 4 roller, 3ml / minute and 230V (so no messing around with power supplies). Job done.

You'd be far better with a complete off the shelf unit, like this:
