I got a bit snap happy at the tank today, so here some Nannostomus marginatus (one Suriname locale and one Amazonian locale) and an ember tetra image too :)

Beautiful little fish - I have some on my wish list for my next tank!

How many of them do you have, and how do they get along? Also, do they have any suicidal jumping tendencies?

I’m a little bit in love with the pencils, the way they hover and hunt is super cute - mine have been spawning too which is lovely to see. I have 14 marginatus (unknowingly I brought 7 Suriname locale and 7 Amazonian locale but they all school nicely together anyway, a little bit of chasing from the males and flaring fins at each other but nothing overly aggressive) no attempted jumping, but I do have cover plates on my tank as I also have hatchets. I have 20 embers, they’re nice to watch but a bit “meh” lol. In future I’d have a huge shoal of the dwarf pencils.

This is a terrible phone image and it’s a little more dense growth wise now (this is from just before Xmas). They love the frogbit roots, and that’s where they sleep at night. Primarily they hunt in the moss, which is also more lengthy now lol.
