Hi all,
Has anyone got any experience buying plants from the EU post Brexit? Are there any additional fees aside from vat to pay?
There's a small scale seller on eBay selling some plants I've not been able to find in the UK but don't want to get stung for import duties/plant passport/inspection fees.

Just to update. I ordered the plant I was after, it arrive safe and without any additional duties. I didn't see the option to get express shipping until after it had been sent. Fortunately despite 2 delays and 10 days in a box, the buce arrived looking pretty healthy considering. It's currently hanging on the side of the tank attached to a magnet for now, so I can keep an eye on it.

Good to hear that there hasn't been any changes to shipping fees!
I'm far from well informed on this subject but as I understand it, new legislation has been added since 1st of Jan 2022. I don't know if this legislation will affect importing of plants but might be worth looking into if you're planning to order some.

I noted this as well, although many of the restrictions have been in place since last year so hopefully it doesn't change much in real terms. But definitely something to be wary of.

Similarly, I'm not an import specialist. But I believe, from some press reports, that the difference is that items coming into the UK will now be checked in some way.

Unfortunately, I guess the only way to find out is give it a go.

As long as it is only checked and they don't add a tariff to it it'll be an option.
