I've had something similar growing on wood in a garden tub.

I've asked several local and international forums with bryophyte and biology enthusiasts. Nobody was able to come up with a conclusive answer. Not even an idea where to start looking.

But looking closer with a microscope, i thought to see that it had a cellular structure build similar to algae.
And in my investigations, i came closest finding similarities to an (aquatic) Lichen.

But in this field, ID'ing is even more problematic than with mosses. Especially when it comes to aquatic forms and or species very little is known about it.
