In a fish room, waterproofing is going to be a high priority, DIY is fine but check rating on each component & then your overall build

Effective T5 would likely be cheaper to install but substantially more to run

LED's vary greatly in price reflecting component quality - of the emitter, the reflecting lens etc
Likely worth your while to do some reading on LED's

I've been using these above a 60x30x30 tank..

Installed 4 units next to eachother (2 meter total). Way to bright for a low light tank.. Are easily dimmable via pwm. Quality is very good supplier is very trustable.. Honnestly have 1 strip of the 4 in use with 2 dead leds after 2 years of use, not even noticable and seeing the price, not a rib out of my body to replace it. But as said 2 dead leds you wont even see.

As you see they come complete with a 50 cm aloy casing profile and a plastic cover of your shoice, clear or opaque.. Easily made splash or condense (IP65) water proof with a little kit.

And since these are 2 year old generation, even beter ones are available.. But the needs you discribe these are far above more then enough i run them on 60% power only.

At the moment i'm into a new diy project to make an affordable light stand with these COB units for a nano tank.

But yet not have all materials needed, it's ordered and still on the road in the mail.

But for a rack option, i would definitively go for the first smd strip oprion.. These are about ready to install from the box. I have non complaints about the above supplier..

Hi All,
My other interest include some electronics, micro-controller programming, etc. So here's my simple 6 x (1W) Led hood on my 20L shrimp tank. I also cut an hole and stuck my lcd thermometer in there too. A sheet on clear (self-adhesive) book cover plastic keeps it all water proof, well at the minute, long term? just driven by a 12v mains adp.
Hope it helps, any comments welcome, I'm new here!
