I'm wondering if I leave Co2 running full time' will this help stop algae growing?

No. Algae is a plant, thus can use CO2 just as well as plants.

You need to sort what is providing the algae with food, usually dying plants due too much light and or poor/fluctuating CO2 levels.

Liquid carbon dosing & increased phosphate dosing can keep algae down/away.

Some people see a benefit but its only because external light is hitting the tank whilst co2 is off. So sometimes it can be a solution but a bad one.
