Shorter pick up pipe?

Is there a way I can run a shorter filter pick up pipe?

I have a 36cm x 36cm x 46cm tank and the filter pick up is in the far corner.
The problem is that I want to bank up the substrate in that corner too. With the pipe at its shortest, I've had to leave a bit of a gap in the corner for the inlet which I would rather fill with substrate and plant.

Are shorter inlets available? I've looked but no luck.

This is for the JBL filter? Had the same problem; a hacksaw did the trick.

Will the inlet cover still fit?

So just remove the extendable part, cut the rest off then use?

Still fits, just make sure you cut the right part.

To update, I did this at the weekend. I removed the extendable pipe and cut approx 2" from the tube. Worked just fine.
