Top dwelling fish

I would like to add some top dwelling fish to complete my stocking for my lido 120 heavily planted.

Current inhabitants are 12 cardinals, 6 pricillas, 3 ottos and 3 rcs.

My initial thoughts are either a shoal of marble hatchet fish, or shoal of pencil fish.

Thoughts and further suggestions would be welcomed. I will post a journal of this tank shortly as I now have a DSLR!

Epiplatys annulatus or Clown killifish, they are beautiful and fun to watch. Very rarely venture to far away from the surface.

Although if you have a lot of water movement up top then maybe not such a good mix...

Hi all,

The hatchet fish is a very good option as a top dwelling fish and as a differ fish. It should also be relatively fry friendly too as it likes to stay at the surface so much.

Thumb up on Clown killifish. I have 7 in my tank with small tetra, very active and beautiful fish. great fun to watch when feeding bloodworms to them.

Watch out, hatchet fish are jumpers, as are a lot of the killies. Pencilfish jump less. With an open tank the nannostomus family is comparatvely safe

Many thanks all for the suggestions, had not previously considered the clown killifish so I will be off to try and hunt some down in my LFS...
