Just got back from a couple of weeks in Thailand, and thought I'd post a few pics from JJ market ( Chatuchak). It's heartbreaking just how cheap so many things are over there, but a few surprisingly expensive things as well.

Bucephelandras are really expensive, about 5-10x what I pay here, and for tiny plants, yet they have tanks full of them.

Found a single shop selling rare crypts, C. keei 600 baht (about £12) all other striolata, schulzei, linga, matakensis etc around £16 each.

But in general plants are dirt cheap!! 5 pots for £2 seems to be going rate.

Is that 35000 baht for real? :D

It is! To be fair it was a very large Buce, could have easily made 10 - 20 smaller plants. Most Buce's were in the £50-100 range for a decent size clump. I also found a £75 Cryptocoryne, but wasn't tempted. I did bring back a few Barclaya longifolia @£1.20 each and quite a few Java Fern 'trident' £0.20 each, oh and a few miniature water lilies @ £0.80 each, and some other type of fern and a nice but pricey Cryptocoryne matakensis. :)

lovely! Cant wait to see some of the pictures of what you brought back. The mini lilies sound interesting. £75 crypts! What were they?

The £75 Crypt was C. Xtimahensis, from Singapore I think, the rest were Japanese imports.

Yes Martin! You're pretty lucky to be living there. Hopefully one day I might get to live in Thailand permanently.
