Im looking at external circulation pumps and some list the hose tails as attaching with something like "1.5 inch gas thread".
I've seen a large number of fittings at a local pond supplier, but is "Gas" this a common thread for aquatic hose fittings.

I gathered that from some googling. But a pump manufacturer I've seen lists a thread as "Gas" and I can't find what that is in relation to BSP.

Engineers and pipe fitters refer to british standard pipe as gas they are 1 and the same probably cos their main use
is in gas pipe
Aquarium/pond fittings will probably be non standard threads and different threads from different manufactures too
Bsp is measured on the bore diameter so 1" bsp will be bigger than 1" on its outside diameter

Some pond/aquarium fittings may be bsp but i doubt it these people like you to get spares from them
