curved edge aquariums

Do any of you guys now if curved edge aquariums are manufactured from toughened glass?
I ask because I would be needing to drill the tank to enable a sump.

I would have thaught they would be made of the same glass as normal, they have to deal with the same forces as a normal aquarium

O sorry, I found out that they are all made in the same chinese factory & the curved glass is toughened but the back & base is not. However I also found two cases of the tanks exploding (well cracking) with no apparent warning!
Sort of put me off but, perhaps those are the only two out of thousands?

dont know what your DIYs like mate but i drilled my sump tank a while back didnt end well a week latter cracked

I hate toughened glass for just that reason. Had a sheet explode in a viv for no reason once. It sounded like a bomb going off
