well what started off as this and then was planned for a african rift lake set-up i have now decided im going to try another planted tank but a low tech until i have a better feel for whats good and whats not :)

this is the tank im doing its a 7 foot long 18" high and 18" deep
its a home made tank and the stand it came with was discusting so i firstly re-done the full hoon and canopy :)

and this is a few through the stages

stand re-built and painted black

this was how the malawi set-up ended before being tore down and changed :)

Great transformation. Amazing what a lick of paint can do :)

That Looks Amazing, One of the best Malawis Tanks I have Seen. Very Serene and Peaceful

hope you like

I love it!

I can imagine as the plants grow in over a couple of years those anubias and needle leaf could fill a lot of the tank.
Will look jawdropping then :D

Re: my 7'x18"x18" malawi biotope

cheers everyone im hoping it will fill in nicely

and as soon as i can find some decent vallis i will be adding some accross the back were a lot of the background is showing as this is 1 of the only true malawi lake plants :)

will keep updated with pics as things change and i add more fish :D

I'd love to see some pictures of the swordtails, a criminally underrated fish in my opinion.

Re: my 7'x18"x18" malawi biotope

ill try and get some good quality pics of them there on the vid but only breifly :)

this is how the tank is looking at the min after another change around

cheers :)

ive decided to now go for a low tech planted set-up as i just cant get away from the fact of how much i love planted tanks

im going for low co2 and low lighting as there is curently a 40 watt plant grow t8 and a 36 watt marine white t8

going to run double 2 litre bottles of diy co2 until i get my pressurised set-up from my friend who owns a garage and is going to get me a big welding cannister :)

not going to run ferts as im trying to keep this as simple and cheap as possible

anyways here is the pics
