    Kessil or Chihiros vivid 2

Vivid for me, I had some kessils, much prefer the vivid. Colour is much better in my opinion. The kessils have a huge following but I much prefer the vivid.

    The salty side

I'm not entirely sure I could resist the pull of corals. 😁

    The salty side

It's good to hear that for certain as that's one of the bits of equipment that seems to be used and not used depending on the aquarist

    The salty side

Thanks, I was thinking that, some equipment is a must for some and not for others I'm quickly seeing. I'm guessing that apart from the light most of the equipment that you seem to accumulate when keeping freshwater fish is suitable for saltwater, within reason.

    The salty side

I'm following with interest, bit mind boggling with the equipment to be honest.

    The salty side

This has got me very interested, I have a spare 55l tank 🤔

    AS900- restart and rethink.

9 months. Ticking along nicely. Soil on the sand still driving me crazy but apart from that all the plants seem to be happy. Had a little outbreak of bba on some of the buce on the left hand side. A bit of an oversight from me as direct sun was hitting the tank for 20 minutes early in the...

    Is this safe?

Yep, mine does the same. Except I don't have any polystyrene overhang either. Quite a few people have asked similar questions as it's a little concerning 😬

Struggling to grow anything that doesn't end up having algae issues

With regards to your ferts I haven't used any of the ones you have so can't help I'm afraid 👍 Water changes wise I'd prob be aiming for 50% minimum but I tend to do more like 80% and a couple on the bounce if I notice something wrong etc. Something like hornwort floating would reduce light at...

Struggling to grow anything that doesn't end up having algae issues

In the beginning I had a aquascaper 900, twinstar s and oase bio 600, co2 by a inline diffuser, all the kit was recommended by aquarium Gardens when I originally set it up. Only thing that has changed is the lighting, I changed to a chihiros vivid a few months ago but all the timings have stayed...

Struggling to grow anything that doesn't end up having algae issues

I have a aquascaper 900 and I believe you may struggle to get a 1 point ph drop (lime green drop checker) in only 2 hours. My co2 is on for 4 hours before lights, co2 9am,lights 1pm. I probably wouldn't turn off the co2 2hrs before the lights either. 1hr is ample. The lighting time is fine for...

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

I'm not sure what brand mine is, I know its not chihiros. Bought from a UK aquascaping shop. Lots of members on this forum would have the exact same pipe. Does anyone else have the same issue?

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

May be worth trying, I'm not sure what effect it will have however. Can the plastic absorb some bleach like it would certain meds etc?

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

That colour is still there after using hot water and a pipe brush, it's also the same colour inside the cabinet so I'm not sure if it's due to light. I've not tried soaking it as I wasn't sure anybody else soaked their pipes in bleach, seemed a little excessive TBH.

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

Hi guys, After some help with my clear filter pipes, I clean my pipes every week when I do my water changes, however the pipes are really starting to stain for some reason. It's a bit bizarre as the pipe is clean where my lily's sit. The pipes are about 9 months old. Can anyone help?
