    Pearls of the Antilles

Thanks, Mark. Coming from you, that means a lot. Well, I think a SW tank can also look nice. That being said, my other SW tanks are "OMG, there are corals everywhere" tanks, so I did the hardscape for coral placement rather than for looks, but for this tank, I considered the hardscape...

    Pearls of the Antilles

@George Farmer - let me know if you have any questions. Mine is taking longer to establish, but I don't need the breakneck pace. Barr used CO2 injection in his rimless grass tank, if you ever followed it. I, on the other hand, chose to make it more of a reef & went in a different direction. My...

Hello George. :D So when is this seahorse tank of yours going up? We must chat. L

    Pearls of the Antilles

Oh, thank you. I enjoy the look as well. It's not everybody's cup of tea though, which is part of the reason why I decided to go Marine with this tank. Corner tanks aren't very popular as planted tanks. L

    Pearls of the Antilles

Unfortunately, it's not a complete journal, I stopped updating it here as I was very busy at the time. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=6837 I can dig up some fts later that'll do it more justice. EDIT: found pictures. These are from March 2010. The planted scape at its height, IMO. L

    Pearls of the Antilles

Haha, that is the project for the Easter Weekend. They are desperate to be fragged. I've gotten money and frags for my macro algae. I pull some very good chaetomorpha. Grows like a weed in my refugiums. I've got 3 other SW display tanks and one quarantine. All three of the zoas you...

    Marine ???

What grass are you using, George? Back on topic, yes, you can do a macro algae tank and yes, tanks that have dense macro growth don't require the LR that say a typical reef does. I still have some. The "easier" seagrasses tend to be Halodule and Halophila. Most require a deeper sand bed, but...

    Pearls of the Antilles

Thanks everybody. It's fun to do something off the beaten path. :) EDIT: Will somebody tell Themuleous that I got pictures of zoas for him! Lololol He fancies me zoas. :P

    Pearls of the Antilles

Hi, it's been about 100 years or so since I've posted here... I thought I'd share with you what I've been up to. I still sing and I still do planted tanks, though I've ventured into SW now as well. Way too many pictures, sorry. :) Well, this old tank... Has now become this tank... Well...

    lljdma06's 8g nano 2009! Final tank shots

Hydrocotyle verticillata (I think). Grows in my back yard and can be adapted for aquatic use. It is a rhizome-type stemplant, kind of like marsilea in its growth habits. The lighting is that crappy PC lighting you and I have discussed. It has a nice color temp, though, nice on the eyes. It...

    lljdma06's .77wpg, no-CO2, 36g journal. The Crypt Keeper

Re: lljdma06's .77wpg, no-CO2, 36g journal. The Crypt Keepe You may ask all the "cheeky" questions you want. It is the bogwood tannins. When you only change the water once every 2 months, they accumulate... Imagine the color if I waited as long as you do for waterchanges! You...

    lljdma06's .77wpg, no-CO2, 36g journal. The Crypt Keeper

Almost a year is long enough for an update, right? Some updated shots from this scape. Pictures are from May, before I left for Italy. Tank looks the same. After all, it is a low-light tank. A little dirty. Thanks for looking.

    lljdma06's 8g nano 2009! Final tank shots

Re: lljdma06's New Nano Dutch! Photo update, August 20th Been a million years. SuperColey1 and I were talking and I thought I'd post the final scape pictures. I went on a trip to Italy in May (Studied voice) and actually had dismantled the tank in March. Didn't exactly come out the way I...

Matts 60L Jungle Edge (update 27/09/09)

Re: Matts 60L That is a very low HC carpet. Great job! I bet that took forever to initially plant. I like the use of crypts and their play on the wood as well. Manzanita, correct? llj :)
