Does anybody have any experience with any of these Optiwhite tanks?

hmmm... their website looks much better than location: Budynek 20-24, ul. Na Grobli, Wrocław - dolny-slask.org.pl

    Storing RO water

Theoretically your water will be good forever, as it has no life or organic waste. However - your container probably does. I had a white 25l container with RO water which I left outdoor and forgot about it. When I opened it after two months I could see some algae. So - in my opinion - if you...

    How to catch a SAE?

I disagree with that one. Clown loaches are very panicky - you need one big (really big) net and the second to scare them and cover the top once caught. Once they got to the big one, they are so keen to move forward, they never realise they can go back. So the big, deep net gives you a lot of...

    How to catch a SAE?

Similar technique - but 1 blue and 1 black. Fish focuses on the black one :)

    Do I need dechlorinator?

    Brilliant hint - thanks!

Eheim Pro 3 Thermo for 185l

Thanks for the hint. I believe I fired them an email with no response - will try again. There is no point of getting a second hand one, as I would not know what I am getting. I could get a leaky one.

Eheim Pro 3 Thermo for 185l

Oh, there is one other thing about Pro 3 - in the past they used to leak. And if you unlucky (as I was with one of the filters) the leak would happen after 3 year guarantee period. (Eheim did not go with the product recall although IMHO they should.) So currently I am trying to source 2073/2075...

Eheim Pro 3 Thermo for 185l

As far as I know all Eheim 350 comes with media - it is enough of it - no need for top up. During my research I read a lot about faulty built-in heaters in Eheim filters. Also price difference between T and non-T versions seems to be excessive - 300 vs 175 pounds. I went for inline heater...

    Duckweed. Friend or foe

Foe. Trying to get rid of it for almost a year. One tiny bit left and the whole tank is full of it in two weeks. Also vallis do not go very well with it.

    Tetratec replacement advice?

In my experience JBL filter does not prime as good as Eheim. JBL Crytalprofi 900: + good value for money + simple + good choice of extra materials (sometimes a bit expensive though; I like: JBL TorMec CPe - Aquatis Fresh water - JBL for Amazonian tank) - problems with priming (maybe it...

Filter maintenance. How regular do you do it?

    Something like: EHEIM prefilter

Filter maintenance. How regular do you do it?

In my main tank I have two external filters without pre-filters (maybe I should get them), cleaned once a month alternating - so effectively I clean a filter every two weeks.

    Do I need dechlorinator?

Ian, you are absolutely right - 0.2ml (memory served me wrong). Still not much fun to use. (I am on RO + Replenish water now)

    Discus tank

I don't know where you are based, but in St. Albans there is a guy called Artur (his offer is listed on ebay). You could get a decent youngster for 8-10 pounds. And it is fun to watch them growing and fighting for food. They are always hungry - I think during weekends I feed them 7 times a day...

Am I wasting my time with RO

Shame, as almost all current RO units come with a pump built-in. I have to say - I do not re-heat the water either. As I change about 10% water daily and it is done in the evening/early night, I kind of mimic nature, where temperature drops during night :) I agree with the comment about HMA...
