Not so much of a journal but more of an experiment!
I'm trying to think outside the box, regarding lighting!
What's the different about this lighting regime...you ask!
Lighting is switched on over very long periods!
5am till 9pm/10pm.
In fact I've left this lighting on for 72hours continuously.
Although the 10pm lighting setting till 5am, has been the lowest dimmed possible.
This tank has been running for three months now....with very few issues!
The odd breakout of brown diatoms on the glass and skimmer, a minor issue with stringy algae on some plants other than that no other major headaches!
No Co2 has been injected into this aquarium.
Fertilization has been a homemade All in One solution....similar to Tobi's with added Trace plus Chleated EDDHA Iron.
Easylife Profito 7ml added today.
Easylife Root Sticks have been added to the substrate where needed.
Good house keeping!
I endeavour to remove any dying/discoloured leaves whenever noticeable.
Uneaten food is syphoned asap!
Java moss covered rocks are removed a washed under the tap every week.
Water changes
Tap Water......25% every few weeks.
Evaporation topped up with Tap Water.
Cheers
