Hi all
It's been ages as I've been relocating. Not sure if any of you remember this set up...
Well it's now like this again...
A blank canvas.
I was hoping for some advice on plants to grow.
I'm using twin led lights, TMC GroBeam 600 Ultima Twin. I'm using the timer box aqua ray and have 8 hours fading in and out for 2 hours within the 8 hour cycle. The aquarium is deep 56cm I realised after purchasing it that cubes are clearly not the best way to go for growing plants. The width is 55cm and front to back is 50 cm. I will be dosing micro and macro feed as well as co2. The flow has to go from left to right. I know it's not ideal but the lid makes it impossible to move the eheim pipe to the back for back front flow. I did make a custom pipe that allowed this but the extra bend in the pipe reduce flow a lot. So I've gone back to the side flow. The water is very soft and I will be using tap water this time as well instread of ro water. Not sure if that will cause issues.
Last time I had a lot of issues with black beard algae and I really want to avoid this like the plague. Also the foreground plants didn't do so well and most died off gradually. It's a pity as I really love the lush green bed look.
Also not sure what bedding to use. The tank has been set up for a few weeks now with the filtration running. The shrimp in there are happy enough to eat the starting algae which is just a small dusting on the bottom.
Any other details people need please just ask. I'd love to get this right this time and have no black beard taking over my tank!
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Cheers
