Platies gulping for air

Hi all,
I have a 180 litre heavily planted aquarium with co2 and ferts added. I have some cardinals, rummynose, corys, ottos, shrimp, SAEs, hengeli rasboras and some platies.
The problem is that only the platies some to be constantly gulping at the top of the water. The other fish don't do this. I have a lot of wood in the tank and I am thinking it may be lowering the ph too much for the platies? That is the only thing I can think of at the moment - any suggestions?

Seems like they are gulping for air (too much CO2). When my threadfin rainbows were doing the same thing (but my otocats were okay) I just lowered the CO2 a bit and let the airpump run. They were fine the next day.
