african cichlid scape

i rescaped a clients tank for african cichlids today, sadly all the plants are artificial but theres still a decent scape in there. this tank is in the boardroom of marketing/design company in melbourne, australia. i don't know all that much about africans, any suggestions on what i should put in there?? they want big and colourful...

I don't know much about African Cichlids either, but I do know that that is a brilliant piece of hardscaping, artificial plants or not. Well done! 🙂
 
It looks good, I'm sure Theyl soon rescape it exactly how they want it,the cichlids I mean. When I kept them I soon had areas of bare tank showing and sand dunes all aver the place.🙂 I'm a big fan of lake malawi set ups they are always on the go. If I get sick of all the expence of keeping plants rift valley will be the type of thing ill be going for.🙂

Perhaps you can add some small pebbles to the sand to make it look a bit more natural?
The sand looks so perfect at the moment 8)

I went back to give the tank a service today and add some monos. They're not african but they like hard water and are active around the surface. The tank was much cleaner than i thought it would be after a month, those sucking cats are doing their job:
