Hi Moist/Damp substrate is the best option....don't over-water as you might end up having Blue/Green Algae! The Crypts might melt their leaves...but they will grow back if all is well with the substrate.

I don't think it would be a good idea....others may think differently? This could have a impact on root production/health and general growth.....might even stunt the plants. Its not that difficult to remove the plants from the pots....use scissors to cut away the pots if stuck around the...

Sorry, is a tad vague! I was meaning used planting media....similar to Active Plant Substrate then adding gravel/sand/grit! As Tim stated....you can use potting compost also....:thumbup:

Hi Ollie Nice bargain! I would remove them from the pots and grow them emersed in some used soil/aquarium substrate! Crypts like sand/gravel mixed in with the substrate.

Not Ferns...they have a different sort of roots!

I would mix it with some gravel/grit to help get some air into the substrate!

Hi Jack Plant size doesn't matter... it's keeping moisture up that is the priority....with the occasional airing of the bins! I wouldn't use inert substrate....something like old Tropica soil/powder might be okay!

Hi Edward The longer roots I push into the substrate...trying to leave the rhizome on the surface! The smaller Buce pieces I try to wedge them into spaces between the crushed lava rock.

The Buce Bin is Fluval Stratum. The Mixed Bin is a mixture of Stratum, Dennerle Deponit Black, and some old Tropica soil! Some Crushed Lava rock down the sides on the surface and around some of the Bucephalandra.

Hi Folks One month on....little Up-date! Drained both the bins this morning....nothing sinister to report, other than a few black flies, but they seem to have vacated the premises! Everything continues to grow slowly....this is probably down to temperature fluctuations over the last few weeks...

Hopefully it will get large enough so you can get plantlets!:happy: :thumbup:

Hi Toby Lights on about 12 hours....I vary the % 10% up to about 75% for about 3 hours, then reduce down to 10% in the evening around 7pm for a couple of hours! hoggie

Hi Wooki I use High K as a foliar feed....don't exceed the recommended grams per litre! I use 0.5 grams per 2 Litre! Ive never had much success with the more difficult Invitro Crypts....especially Nurii.....I would make up a mix of gravel and crushed lava rock for the Parva media! ;)

Hi You can glue Cryptocyrne rootstock too rock, wood ......this best done when the wood or rock are dry. The rhizome/roots must be submerged attached to the hardscape. The leaves could melt, if out of the water but they may/could grow new ones if provided with enough nutrients, co2, light...

Hi Crypts can be look different from emersed to submerged in leaf colours! Different parameters.... fertilization/lighting/Co2 will also have a affect on the appearance of Crypts! hoggie

Just to add! Attaching the Bucces was far more easier with this product a Gel not a liquid! Added a couple of drops and used a Ice lolly stick to press the rhizome's onto the Lava Rock for 10 seconds....no mess or sticky fingers:lol::happy: hoggie

Hi Well it would help with drainage...also compost tends to compact if its too moist when it dry's out! Therefore base layering and adding some grit or small sixed gravel to the compost has its advantages! Also it lets air into the compost so helps with root development! On another point what...

No problem.....you could always purchase a small bag of inert aqua gravel to place on the bottom then add the compost! But that means striping out the compost again! hoggie
